Matsukaze often does not use many props in setting the stage, but one of the biggest and most important props that exist in this production is the Pine Tree memorial that was left for the sisters. Traditionally there is no hut set up where the sisters live and the priest spends the night. However with our production we will utilize the use of floor tracks as well as scene shifts to have a hut that the actors can enter along with the pine tree. The back drop will be of the coast looking out over black water in the middle of the night. Lighting will be minimal, as we want to sell the idea that the production is happening at night.

Attached are the characters that are in the play and how they are generally portrayed. We will still be maintaining some of the beauty that the sisters have in these images, but will be leaning into the special effect make up a bit more to produce a scarier final product. Our goal is to leave people feeling uneasy at the sight of the sisters, with them being cursed to wander this earth for eternity we feel the sisters might have become bitter in their unrest.

When it comes to horror, Japan is known to set the bar extremely high, from their disturbing imagery to absolutely unsettling ghosts and paranormal creatures. Attached are some images of Ghosts in Japanese culture that we will be pulling our inspiration from. While traditionally the sisters are played by men in masks, We will be going with a more integrated approach, we will be casting women for the roles of the sisters, and rather than masks, there will be the use of special effect make up to produce the intended results of a creepier ghost.

Good Evening, We are pleased to announce our first production: Matsukaze by Kan'ami Kiyotsugu. Matsukaze tells the story of two sisters who have passed, and because of their emotional sins in life are cursed to haunt this world rather than pass on. Naturally the productions that we put on lean heavily on the horror aspects, so expect something frightfully fun...
