Shady Pines Chamber Players

Shady Pines Chamber Players A summer concert or 2, we host fine musicians who love playing chamber music with one another. A fairy garden destination not to miss. L.E. Mrs. When Mrs.

ABOUT US
Shady Pines Chamber Players is entering their 11th season of summer activities in 2023. We celebrate the joy co-founder John Cox (Austin cellist) finds in playing chamber music with others. “It is a delight to share some of this joy with the community of Cloudcroft which has been so welcoming of our musicians through the years” says coordinator Suzannah Cox. Primary activities invol

ve fine musicians from far and wide who come together to enjoy the conversation they can have with one another through all kinds of chamber music. THE GARDEN
Cox’s parents Dr. & Mrs. Wilcox from El Paso purchased the cabin they named “Shady Pines” in 1944. Wilcox loved the garden and planted lilacs (which remain) and annuals every year. Wilcox was no longer able to make the trip, Cox began moving rocks and making pathways and defined beds. Around 2010 Cox was inspired by the small trellis of a neighbor to begin working with sticks and twigs. Each visit after that, she became more and more involved working to define pathways, erect trellises and then to make silly sculptures and wood bird houses. MUSIC AT THE CABIN
Because over the years Shady Pines music activities have had the use of Cloudcroft School facilities for various summer music activities, it was a natural to make the attraction of the garden and the music floating out into it be an enticement for visitors to support the Cloudcroft Schools music programs. GARDEN STROLLS
Shady Pines Fairy Garden has become a favorite destination for Cloudcroft visitors and locals. It is open to the public a couple of weeks each summer. Visitors may luck out and overhear chamber music 'jams' going on. 2023 scheduled openings: June 14-18, Aug 3-7, Sept 1-5 daily 2-5 p.m. CONCERTS

Season FOURTEEN is around the corner!!
Thirteen years ago, a handful of accomplished musician hobbyists gathered at the little cabin on Wren called “Shady Pines” to begin their conversation in classical chamber music. Many notes have happened since then – classical and country. And the garden has evolved into a destination for many of its visitors. Come enjoy it all again this summer. Though all events are free and we do want to see you no matter what, SEND A DONATION IF YOU CAN.

THANKS AGAIN to everyone who has helped up to now this 13th season of Shady Pines Chamber Players music and garden whimsy. Soon we’ll be making our annual presentation to CMS music programs and we’ll celebrate another delightfully successful season of music and garden adventures.
Whether or not you can jump on the wagon to encourage our little corner of Cloudcroft uniqueness, we and our garden creatures would love a visit from you one afternoon (2-5 pm) this weekend. No human musicians will be here this weekend but the birds make up for it in their chorus of hundreds.
Though the magic here is free, we do appreciate and need donations to continue concerts and to make our annual donation to Cloudcroft Schools music.

The big hail a couple of weeks ago trimmed many of Shady Pines’ posies but the rains have continued and the happy Tiger Alley audience last Saturday made the fairies smile so now the garden mirrors the greening forest around Cloudcroft.
Tiger Alley will make encore appearances at the Cloudcroft Chamber Art & Wine in the Cool Pines festival (on the Cloudcroft Museum grounds) Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Embellish your weekend activities by coming to the Garden for a quiet visit in Shady Pines’ Fairy Garden. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 2 to 5, entrance is FREE (we welcome donations to help with our musical productions and our annual donation to Cloudcroft Schools music programs).

THIS SATURDAY, come see Tiger Alley in Shady Pines’ Fairy Garden AT SEVEN P.M..
Come rain or shine, they’ll be singin’, shreddin’ and pickin’ their sweet tunes on Shady Pines’ “Bertha” Stage. If there is a drop of rain, all the sweeter. Bring your ‘brella and your own refreshments and spend a little time with our neighbors and all the fanciful critters of this magical place. We’ve probably got enough seating but you can bring your own if you like.
THIS EVENT IS FREE but tips for the band are MOST APPRECIATED and will help encourage them to come back next year. SPCP also makes a donation at the end of each season to the Cloudcroft Schools Music programs. Gifts may be sent to:

When you wish for cool and wet, you get a glorious Sunday HAIL!
So the Fairies were covered in drifts of ice pebbles and green pine needle mulch. Their posies have been trimmed. They are anxious for visitors this FRIDAY through SUNDAY afternoons from 2 to 5. Come for a visit and a walk around our little patch of magic. No human musicians will be here this weekend but the birds and bees are singing strong.
Though the Garden magic is free, we do appreciate and need donations to continue concerts and to make our annual donation to Cloudcroft Schools music.

We made an atrocious mistake on an ad we placed in this month’s Mountain Monthly. We listed the wrong concert TIME on the ad !@ #$! MM was SO gracious in allowing us to manually fix mistakes on as many yet to be distributed copies as we could but we’d like your help in spreading the word to everyone else. We were not able to change mailed MM issues so the time in the ad is incorrect (but times in the events sections are correct).
The TIGER ALLEY concert on Saturday, July 26 is at 7 p.m. at Shady Pines’ “Bertha” Stage in Cloudcroft at 200 Fox (facing Wren – just down the hill from The Lodge). This years’ original DUO will again give you the good country/swing/blusey feeling they always do while shredding their instruments and singin’ their sweet tunes. That’s in a couple of weeks so we’ll remind you again as time approaches.
BTW… this concert is FREE. Donations are welcome to support this charming band. Come with your pockets full and byo refreshments if you like. And your umbrella just in case we get a few more rain drops. You are welcome to bring your own chair but we think we’ll have enough for everyone.
Mail donations to Shady Pines Chamber Players, POB 1115, Cloudcroft 88317.
