A big thank you to Clinton, MO, Olde Glory Days! So thankful to the carnival workers who helped save my tent in the 60 mph winds on the 4th! That was so scary and I'm praising God for them and saving my tent and all of the paints/ equipment! Weather was a surprise but the community and organizers could not have been nicer. What a wonderful city! *picture was after we got the booth down in the crazy storm. My painting on my arm did not make it lol

News:
I just was talking to a friend the other day about how fun it was painting at the Harvest Festival at the Lee's Summit City Market in October and after talking with my team- we will not be attending this year. Prices for booths raised another 25% and after Downtown Days ( same booth cost with shorter hours and then suddenly skipping Sunday completely) we, unfortunately, have to pass. I will still be working at birthday parties, School carnivals, fall festivals, block parties in the area still so be sure to message soon and get booked for fall before it's too late!

Come see me for Face/Arm/Leg painting At Old Glory Days in Clinton, MO! They have 70 booths of crafts and more as well as a carnival right on the square!
The festival runs 10-10 Friday and Saturday!
(I'll be painting faces 11-late Friday and 10-4ish Saturday).

I've been terrible at taking pictures! Having a blast painting faces at parties and with Pinky's protégé last weekend!

Unfortunately, the rain in today's forecast looks unavoidable, and we've had to make the difficult call to close the vendor portion of the Downtown Days festival for Sunday, June 7.

The carnival will be open weather permitting from 11 AM to 5 PM. Wristbands will not be available, and in the event of lightning in the area, all rides will be shut down.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported all the artists, makers, musicians, and small businesses these last two days. Your support of all things local means the world to us. Keep it up, and we'll see you soon.

Hey so it looks like downtown days is not going to open at all today. All of the vendors were sent a text last night that we were allowed to pack up and leave without penalty because of the weather being forecasted to be raining literally all day in Lee's summit. When we got up this morning it looks like there's hardly any chance for rain but I know many of the booths have packed up and left. We just want to thank everybody for coming and supporting us Friday and Saturday and we do look forward to coming back next year!

Sunday is 11-4 for the festival but the carnival (west of the train tracks) goes until 5 with a great deal on unlimited rides! Just be sure to come see us before 400 😊

I'm still working designs out for Downtown Days.. these practice boards don't display paint quite like skin does but not bad for design examples.

I'm trying to figure out a booth layout for DOWNTOWN DAYS coming up this weekend. As chaotic as a festival booth might seem (more so than this picture? ha ha ha yes... it's a mess, I know) when you're in line for face paint- a lot of work goes into making it the best experience possible with layout and decorations!

Where will the line go? How can as many examples be visible as possible- are they at child-height so littles can point if they are shy or speech delayed? It might rain, should we have the sides up? Where does the sun beat down- paint can't go there... So. Many. Scenarios... but I LOVE drawing up plans and trying them out!

I will be painting the entire festival time- other than breaks sprinting to porta potties - Friday 1200-900, Saturday 1000-900 and Sunday 1100-400 with my sister there to help with payment and questions (The beautiful Red head in my profile pic) who always volunteers and helps with everything all of these years! I LOVE MY SEESTER!

My talented daughter, Melody will be there to help paint faces on Saturday and we're working on new examples for you to choose from! Thank you for suggestions of designs and KEEP THEM COMING! Oftentimes, when you see me working at school carnivals or block parties- I have a short period of time to paint everyone so I don't take special requests BUUTTTTT at Downtown Days???? I pride myself in doing the best possible work of anything on a whim (aka, painting something you found on your phone). If it's something on your phone I will okay the price with you before painting (Sometimes, the images you find are AI, or the facepainter had HOURS to do them-no, I'm not kidding). On the conventional side (where you choose a design example I have in my booth) I try to keep design examples updated so that you or your child can find the BEST picture for your face, arm or leg quickly!

Wait... FACEpaint on your ARM? LEG??

YES! Sometimes, Littles especially (like mine in the picture) do NOT like sitting for a facepaint but LOVE to watch the design come to life on their little arm or leg! Often times, the designs are larger (more room than a little cheek), they tend to stick around longer (eating, rubbing eyes, wiping off sweaty baby hairs etc tend to smear designs) and generally like showing off their arm or leg by striking a pose!

I do love doing the Classic Facepaint like the full face in the attached picture from Lee's Summit Downtown Days in 2015 (you can see this on Lee's Summit's commercial on Youtube- can't miss my face/psycho laugh ). OH man, you can see my hand drawn examples in the back! Those died years ago after years of weather/packing etc.. Anyway, Full Face definitely makes a statement!
