I received this magazine in the mail yesterday, Portrait Seattle. It is a local magazine produced in Seattle and Portland for high end real estate. My sconces and chandelier are in one of the articles. A pair of sconces flank a painting with the same color scheme. The chandelier in the center fold (plus it looks like the chandelier isn't lit) makes it really difficult to see. There is a blue sconce (again unlit) in the background on the left across from the fireplace that is also visible in the mirror in the powder room. The collectors who bought quite a bit my work moved from California a few years ago into this house.

Here's a fun little video about Clinton made by Nerd County Project on YouTube. It includes a quick shot of my sculpture with Bill Clinton in front of it which I don't think has ever actually happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccLxBUDrTl8

I unpacked another box of glass from the Red Fern Glass archived collection yesterday. There were 43 glass pieces which included vases, jars, bowls, artglass, bottles, inkwells, jugs, plates, and "whimseys" like banks, hats, peg lamps, and even a fly trap and a chicken on a nest. Whimsey definition: "A handblown glass, non-production object made by a glassblower during his free time, also is known as friggers, whimsy, shimsies, winsy, and winsies. Glass with no utilitarian purpose, executed to satisfy the whim of the glassmaker. Such offhand exercises in skill are almost as old as glassmaking itself. Some of the earliest pieces blown for fun are boots and hats." All these will be for sale at the 40th Anniversary Studio Sale in November. Some may go up on the website before then.

We learned from the Arkansas Craft School's newsletter online that Ed Pennebaker, Red Fern Glass is producing the winner's awards for the the Governor's Arts Awards ceremony Mar. 7 in Little Rock. Ed's glass work can be purchased in the Arkansas Craft Gallery, and in the Craft School's market area, where his chandelier graces the front window. Recently Ed's classes have been held at his home studio in Clinton.

Some of you may know about Zarks Gallery in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. I have had work first at Spring Wind Gallery, then at Zarks, both run my Rick and Sara Armellini from my very early days making glass in the 1980s. The gallery has gone through several owners but the latest owner, Timm Hilty, has passed away and there is now no one to carry on the gallery. Work at the gallery is being sold at a discount so if you are looking for a great deal, now is the time to jump on it. Timm bought this chandelier from me and his heirs are ready to sell it. Chandelier #647, 45" height, 43" diameter, 168 glass pieces, suggested retail $11,760. I am going to the gallery Sunday, January 5 to help take it down and pack it. I will be available to install it in your special place. Get in contact with Susan (email [email protected]) at Zarks or me and we will see about making you a great deal on a special chandelier.
