NCMA AIM Day * Saturday, June 6, 2026 …so much fun celebrating alongside art and artists at NC Museum of Art [museum tour led by docents / artists panel Q&A / pop-up market / the museum store]

Inspired by the collective good vibes from the day’s gathering & deeply thankful for NCMA AIM [Artist Innovation Mentorship] support in the creation of our Downtown Clinton Mural, Spring 2025 - completed with Clinton High School art teacher, Michael Ray and art students.

My first sighting of the bougainvillea plant was in California while visiting Ken’s mom in San Diego. Initially, I was simply attracted to its vibrant, paper-like leaves in triplicate. And for some time now, whenever & wherever I see pink, yellow, orange bougainvillea shrubs in bloom, I think about backyard gardens, our Moms, my Loves, our children… with gratitude, my heart is beyond full.

I will be on the road [May 22 thru June 4] spending time with family and with my sketchbook. As many of you know, the sweet, inspirational, and most creative moments come from being with the ones we Love.

📷 April 27, 2026 at Sampson Middle School with Alaina Lemon [SMS art teacher], me [Grace], and Kara Donatelli [Executive Director at Sampson Arts Council] + students’ hands-on Chinese ink brush paintings + ART supplies, set-up & clean-up + a few resources 😌

Great day of learning via SAC’s Artists in Schools Program, Thank You! for asking me to participate, for welcoming me in the art classroom, for allowing me to share what I do.

I loved seeing the students trying and exploring with ink brush painting supplies — something different and new to them — the photos say it all…

FUN fact no. 1 - we are artists! everyone in Ms. Lemon’s art classroom

FUN fact no. 3 - clean-up was messy

you & me…

Dedicated to you — my friends & family — and to growers with the ability to plant and care for flowers, trees, our land... I appreciate your time, skill, and generosity in sharing the fruits of your talents. Because of you, there is a deep sense of joy that fills my heart, soul, and creative spirit with love, I am grateful for you & me...

From start to end, it’s hard to say exactly how long it took for this piece to unfold. Photo-documented here [HYFA blog posted April 17, 2026] is a selection of dried flowers [gifted from our friends and my family] that I collected from May 2020 through June 2024. At times overlapping and/or paused to work on other pieces, I completed “you & me... “ on March 31, 2026. This may very well be my favorite piece to date.

And many thanks to our friend, Allison for allowing us to include her gift of bouquets as one of many backstories in my creative process of making, “you & me…”

Downtown Clinton thanks for inviting me to attend this year’s NC Main Street Conference… this being my first Main Street conference experience, I learned so much, enjoyed seeing familiar faces and meeting new people! Hello Friends,

Some of you may know that I have been creating art for friends and families long before I knew it as work… sketches, doodles, drawings, paintings …I love what I do and remain grateful for each day and for each person, each family that trusts in my process of creating visual memories through shared experiences.

The ah-ha inspirational moments in my creative process often come from uniquely personal experiences that our clients choose to share with me; and I am deeply honored to hold the experiences behind each art request privately. Occasionally when permitted to share further, your trust in my art and work means the world.
