A Statement From Premier Event Center
We have recently become aware of multiple posts and Google reviews regarding a wedding held at Premier Event Center this past weekend. Since we are unable to respond directly in the Facebook group where some of these statements were made, we feel it is important to provide our side and correct the record.
When the original room became unavailable due to flooding, we moved the wedding to our larger hall at the same contracted price. We also allowed the bride into the venue at 10:00 a.m. to begin setting up, even though that was earlier than the contracted setup time. These were accommodations we made to help make the wedding day go as smoothly as possible.
We also need to correct something that continues to be repeated in these posts and reviews: the Photo Booth was never offered to the bride as compensation for the room change. No one from Premier Event Center told the bride that the Photo Booth was being provided because of the flooding. The room change and the Photo Booth were two completely separate matters.
There was a misunderstanding regarding the wedding package. The bride was mistakenly told that a Photo Booth was included. Because we had already given her that information, we honored it and rented the Photo Booth. We are genuinely unsure where the story that the Photo Booth was “compensation” for the room change came from, because that was never what was communicated to the bride by us.
After the reception, two staff members used the Photo Booth and took photos that included posing with money and other joking poses. These photos were taken after the wedding and were not intended to be included in the client gallery. Once management became aware that they appeared in the gallery, we contacted the Photo Booth company during normal business hours and requested that the staff photos be removed.
The bride contacted my personal cell phone nearly at midnight on Sunday, when the venue was closed. The only reason she had my personal number was because she had previously indicated that she was having an issue receiving emails from the venue. Texting a staff member’s personal phone at nearly midnight was unnecessary and frankly rude. This was her wedding night, and the concern could have waited until the venue reopened the following morning. I still took the concern seriously and apologized because I wanted to help resolve the situation. However, I was not going to contact a third-party vendor at nearly midnight and expect them to address a non-emergency outside of normal business hours.
The following morning, which was our next business day, the bride’s sister contacted the hall when we opened, and I spoke with her directly. She asked that the photos be removed. I contacted the Photo Booth company that same day, they confirmed the staff photos could be removed, and I updated the bride regarding what was being done. I also requested an email address so a new gallery link could be provided, but that information was never received. The actual removal of the photos was handled by a third-party Photo Booth company.
The bride also continued texting me on Tuesday, when Premier Event Center was closed, and I still responded to her and tried to be helpful. Despite the venue being closed, I continued communicating with her because I wanted to help resolve the situation.
We will not be posting or sharing the photos publicly. There is a minor pictured in the photos, and we will not use a child’s image simply to defend ourselves against a review or social media post.
The timeline matters. The bride contacted my personal cell phone Sunday night when the venue was closed. The concern was addressed when we reopened Monday morning, the Photo Booth company was contacted during normal business hours that same day, and I continued communicating with the bride even on Tuesday while the venue was closed. Yet multiple public statements have portrayed this as though management simply ignored the issue for days. That is not what happened.
We also want to address the statement that management should “learn from our mistake.” There was no refusal by management to resolve the issue, and there was no management mistake in waiting until normal business hours to contact a third-party vendor. I tried to help. We can take responsibility when we make a mistake, but letting a client know what is and is not included in their package is not rude or disrespectful. Our Sunday wedding package is $49.95, and the Photo Booth was not included in that package. Explaining that there had been a misunderstanding regarding the Photo Booth was simply clarifying the package details; it was not an attempt to “throw anything back” at the bride or make her feel responsible for the issue. We also expect clients to take responsibility for how they communicate with our staff. Being unhappy with a situation does not give someone a reason to speak disrespectfully to the person who is actively trying to help them.
The bride was also apologized to multiple times throughout the communication. We understand that the family was upset by the photos, and we took the concern seriously. What we do not accept is the rewriting of the timeline or the suggestion that management refused to help when the written communication shows otherwise.
We are also aware that multiple Google reviews and social media posts have now been made regarding this same situation. The bride told management that a post would be made, so we were aware that the situation would be discussed publicly. What we did not expect was for her sister and a friend to make separate public posts and reviews regarding the situation, including statements about conversations and events they were not personally involved in.
Everyone has the right to share an opinion. However, there is a significant difference between sharing your own experience and publicly repeating someone else’s version of events as though you personally witnessed them. It is especially disappointing to see multiple people pile onto a small business over a situation that most of them never discussed with management firsthand.
Premier Event Center is a small local business. These reviews are not just words on a screen—they can directly affect our ability to book future weddings and events and support the employees who work here. We will absolutely take responsibility when we make a mistake, but we will not allow inaccurate statements to go unanswered simply because multiple people repeat the same story.
If you are going to judge a business, at least make sure you know the facts first. Repeating a secondhand story across multiple platforms does not make it more accurate.
We are sharing this statement because our clients, future clients, and community deserve the opportunity to hear both sides of the story before making a judgment based on claims made by people who were not directly involved in the communication.
The written communication and timeline speak for themselves.
As a small local business, we truly appreciate everyone who continues to support Premier Event Center and allows us to continue doing what we love—helping people celebrate their most important moments.
