Congratulations to James Swanson, a juried artist in last year's Bosque Art Classic.

Congratulations to James Swanson OPA for winning the Gold Medal in the Associate & Signature Division at the 35th National Exhibition for his painting Destiny of the Rising Sun. The exhibition is hosted by the Steamboat Art Museum through August 29th!hosted by the Steamboat Art Museum! We also extend our congratulations to all of the award winners. Deadline is June 1, 2026, for the 41st Annual Bosque Art Classic juried by Tim Newton.

The Bosque Arts Center Art Council welcomes acclaimed collector and curator Tim Newton as juror for the 41st Annual Bosque Art Classic in Clifton, Texas. Known for the outstanding representational work it draws from across the country, the Classic awards $15,500 in cash prizes for works in drawing, pastel, oil/acrylic, sculpture and water media. Newton has judged the Oil Painters of America and Buffalo Bill Cody shows, among others, both national and international. He founded the American Masters exhibition at the renowned Salmagundi Club in New York City and recently curated the Briscoe Night of the Artists exhibition. The entry deadline is June 1, with the juried work on display September 13 to 26, after the opening night extravaganza on September 12.

Today is the deadline for registering for the Steve Atkinson Plein Air workshop on October 17-18, 2025. Call the Bosque Arts Center at 254-675-3724 or visit www.bosqueartscenter.org to register. Workshop fee is $300; scholarships may still be available.

Among Steve’s many honors: Winner of the Phippen Foundation Award as well as the 2021 Phippen winner for Best Body of Work, First in Watercolor, and First in Drawing. He is a past winner of the John Steven Jones Award in the Bosque Art Classic.
