💞My hero! 💞 After my own life threatening aortic dissection in January 2019, my daughter found out she also has the Loeys-Dietz gene that causes aortic aneurysms (among other medical issues.) After monitoring for the last two years, her aortic root measurements indicated that it was time to get proactive. Yesterday, Hayley had a valve sparing aortic replacement via open heart surgery here at the Cleveland Clinic. A section of her aorta was removed and replaced with a graft. Scary stuff, but Hayley is a trooper and did amazing! This morning I was able to visit her and see how well she is doing. Mama brushed her hair and they removed her chest tubes, central and arterial lines already and they will be moving her out of ICU later this afternoon! It’s awe inspiring to see all this as a visitor vs. being the patient because due to the emergent nature of my surgeries, it was a completely different experience for me.
I’m here in Cleveland with Hayley’s husband Chris and we have to take turns being with our girl (thanks Covid!) but we’ll take what we can get and are so very grateful to everyone here in Cleveland.
We thank you all so much for you prayers and well wishes. God is good and my girl now has so much less to worry about! ❤️❤️❤️
