Hingetown Jazz Festival The Hingetown Jazz Festival is an annual festival held on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend in Ohio City. It is free and open to the public.

We provide a free, artist-centered celebration of Northeast Ohio’s jazz community.

Five of the musicians we're glad to have on Saturday's bill.

Evelyn Wright has been singing jazz and R&B for three decades, twenty years of that with the Cleveland
Jazz Orchestra. She opens the festival at the Bop Stop at 2:00.

Jennifer James is a pianist and one of three Cleveland State jazz faculty in her own trio. Jukebox at 3:00 —
and then again on keys with Grace Blackford at 8:00, which puts her on the schedule twice in one day.

JT’s Electrik Blackout (Akron, OH) — High-energy electric jazz fusion blending heavy funk grooves, neo-soul harmonies, and bold, futuristic soundscapes. Bop Stop at 5:00.

Rewired takes songs you already know somewhere you won't expect. Jukebox at 6:00.

Grace Blackford closes the whole festival at the Bop Stop at 8:00.

A free festival isn't free to put on. It gets paid for by people who decided a neighborhood should have this.

Thank you to Open Tone Music, the Timothy C. Beyer Family Fund, the Joseph and Florence Mandel
Family Foundation, Buford T Hedgehog Productions, Jazz NEO, and Ideastream Public Media.

Thank you to Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga Community College, Kent State University, and the
University of Akron for sending their students.

And thank you to the three places that hand over their rooms and their patios for the day — the Bop Stop at
the Music Settlement, Saucy Brew Works, and Jukebox — plus Ninja City, who'll be feeding everybody.

Four schools have students playing this year, and none of them are warming up the room.

The Kent State University Jazz Combo plays Saucy Brew Works at 2:30. The CSU Student Ensemble
follows at 4:00. The University of Akron Jazz Combo is at Jukebox at 4:30. The Tri-C Jazz Studies
Fellowship Ensemble is back at Saucy at 5:30.

They're on the same bill as musicians who've been working in Northeast Ohio for thirty and forty years.
That's how we've built this from the start — the pipeline and the people it leads to, same afternoon, two
minutes apart. As teachers, it's our favorite part of the day.

Three venues, two minutes between any two of them. That's the whole footprint.

The Bop Stop, Saucy Brew Works, and Jukebox, all tucked into the Hingetown pocket of Ohio City. We run
the sets thirty minutes apart, which means you can catch the back half of one and the front half of the next
without hurrying anywhere.

We're back for a fourth year on Saturday, September 5, and we'd love to see you there.

Ten sets between 2 and 9 PM across three venues that all sit within a two-minute walk of each other. Free
admission, all ages, just walk up.

Over a thousand of you came last year. That's the whole reason this keeps happening.
