CALLING ALL MaDaCol FAMILY! We are having a special anniversary season you do not want to miss out on as we enter our 5th decade as an organization, and we want everyone to be a part of it!

Reverse auditions are on this Sunday, September 1st, at 5pm at Mather Dance Center (11201 Bellflower Rd.). At the reverse audition, the choreographers will teach small parts of their dance and you will be able to rank the pieces in the order you want to be in them.

Rehearsals are on Sundays from 5:00-7:30pm. The performances are on November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Exact times/dates you are required to be at MaDaCol will be covered at the reverse audition.

Please note: if you cannot attend the reverse audition, but want to participate in MaDaCol and can attend rehearsals, please let us know as soon as possible! You will be cast but will waive the right to rank the pieces. You can contact us via Facebook Messenger or via email at [email protected] to let us know that you would like to be cast.

Mather Dance Collective Fall 2022 will be performed December 1, 2, and 3 at 7:30pm at Mather Dance Center, 11040 Bellflower Rd, on the Case Western Reserve campus in University Circle. All tickets are $10. Choreography by second year graduate dance student Joel Linebach, alumnus Richard Oaxaca, and senior capstone projects by Megan Gregory and Megan Halley.

Happy New Year All!

From the MaDaCol family, we hope you all have had a safe, cozy, and relaxing holiday season as we open 2021!

Reflecting on last semester, we conquered the difficulty of the pandemic to produce three amazing pieces as a testament to the love and passion for dance we all share. Kudos once again to Mary-Elizabeth, Ting-yu, and Stephen for their hard work and patience during the rehearsal process, and kudos to all of the dancers for their commitment and dedication! For the Spring 2021 semester, we will not be having a MaDaCol production. Due to the difficulties of the pandemic and the needs of the department, focus will be put towards a spring production of Imagitorium which will feature works from both graduate and undergraduate students within the dance department. MaDaCol will be back on in the fall! (Hopefully, in person)?

In order to make MaDaCol grow even further, we ask that you provide some feedback on how the fall semester went, choreographers as well! Any input to how we can make the virtual process for MaDaCol easier and better for you allows us to make MaDaCol more accessible to more individuals! The feedback form is linked. Hello Everyone!

We hope you are surviving the last few weeks of the semester! We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy as the pandemic progresses!

With that said, you all are cordially invited to join us for the premiere of MaDaCol Fall 2020 on November 22, 2020 at 7pm EST. comment down below to recieve the zoom link for Sunday's premiere!

The pieces will be made available on the CWRU Dance Department's YouTube Channel the following day!

The three MaDaCol projects have been created by Mary-Elizabeth Fenn, Tingyu Xie, and Stephen Markwei. The casts represent graduate and undergraduate students as well as members from the greater university and Cleveland communities.

Lauren, Gabby and I are very proud of everyone for working with us and the choreographers to construct these pieces. Your flexibility has made MaDaCol very successful this semester, and we commend all of your dedication and love for dance! Without your enthusiasm and love for dance, none of this would have been possible!!!

We also must thank our choreographers profoundly! Working rehearsals over zoom is a challenge, and they have overcome those challenges to create a work of art we all needed during a time of isolation and uncertainty! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Learn more about how the Student Activites Fair is working and how to find us! MaDaCol will have a virtual booth with a live chat so that you can contact us directly with any questions or concerns. Our booth will feature our contact information, social media, pictures from previous performances by Brad Petot, and some video performances through YouTube.

In tandem, we will have a Zoom session on Wednesday August 26th at 6:00PM to further answer questions. Anyone is welcome to join us to ask questions, fill out the audition form, or just meet the officers! The zoom link is below!

Hi everyone! It’s Gabby! Today is Saturday August 22nd so there are eight more days to sign up for Virtual MaDaCol this semester. Just as a reminder, the auditions will close on August 29th. If you miss this deadline, no fear! You will still be able to participate in MaDaCol; however you must reach out during the first week of rehearsals, and you will not have the option to choose the cast you are in.

Additionally, I wanted to share that we will be at the Online Student Activities Fair this Sunday from 11:30AM - 2:00PM. The fair is taking place through CampusGroups and will feature a live chat so that you can contact us directly with questions and learn more about the details about MaDaCol this fall. Furthermore, on Wednesday, August 26th we will be having a Zoom session from 6:00PM to 7:30PM that will stand as a Q&A session. Here you may join the session at any time during this period and ask us for the audition form, ask us questions, or even just get to know the co-presidents. We are excited over the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have been getting by making MaDaCol virtual this fall. We cannot wait to dance with you all and look forward to furthering the arts at Case Western.

My name is Gabby, and I’m one of the co-presidents of MaDaCol. MaDaCol will be held virtually, which is the first time this has been done over the thirty plus years MaDaCol has existed. In light of COVID-19, all rehearsals will be held over Zoom during the normal Sunday evening 5:00PM - 7:30PM (EST) time slot. There may be more rehearsals; however, these extraneous times will be determined by the discretion of the choreographer and mutually agreed upon with the dancer(s) involved. In order to create our end performance for each cast, you must have access to a camera, whether that be your phone or computer, from which you can record yourself dancing in landscape format. You will be given access to a Google Drive folder where you will upload your videos so that choreographers may view and use them to edit their projects together. Throughout this process, if any questions or concerns arise, one co-president will be in each cast to assist with administrative and technological issues. Furthermore, we will be present during the virtual student activities fair on August 23rd from 11:30AM - 2:00PM (EST) where you can talk to Joel, Lauren, or myself about any questions or concerns you may have. We will have a larger Q&A session on Wednesday, August 26th from 6:00PM - 7:30PM (EST) to answer questions and assist with the audition form as necessary.
