Micro Theater CLE is accepting submissions for "A Microdose of Love" on Friday, February 13th, 2026 at The Hermit Club in Playhouse Square. Presented by Arts in the Abbey, this iteration of Micro Theater CLE will feature short performances centered on the theme of love (we're talking partners, friends, canine companions - get creative!). The submission deadline is Friday, January 16th at noon, with creators notified by Monday, January 19. You don't need to have a fully-developed piece, just an idea.

At Micro Theater, we produce short performances that are staged simultaneously in different spaces throughout the same general area. Each show is performed a few times per night, so the audience can see a few short plays in an evening with time in between to chat over beers.

The micro theater concept started in Madrid before launching in Miami and Buenos Aires, and in 2024 and 2025 we staged several Micro Theater events in and around Cleveland. We had a blast and we want to do it again!

Traditional plays, experimental plays, dramas, comedies, physical theater, sketch, clown, burlesque, performance art, and immersive performance are all fair game. Performances should be 15-minutes or less. If you're excited about it, we'll try and make it work.

We have experienced producers, directors, performers you can collaborate with, or you’re welcome to direct and cast the show on your own. And if you’re a director (or interested in trying out directing) and/or an actor and would be interested in being in someone else’s show, let us know!

What a blast! Thanks to everyone who came out to Micro Theater CLE in Tremont, and to all the artists, volunteers and venues for making it possible. We shoved almost 400 people over 2 nights into a coffee shop, an attic, a dining room, a storefront, and more for 22 unique new works of theater, dance, music, comedy, improv, and even a little magic.

Why did we do it? To celebrate our vibrant creative community here in Cleveland, to make space for DIY performance, and to have fun with our friends.

We're going into hibernation for the winter, but we'll be back before you know it with details for Round 3. Want to get involved with the next one? Drop us a line at [email protected].

Our friends Pinch and Squeal!, Cleveland's favorite vaudeville act from Wizbang, will be one of the traveling shows guiding audiences from venue to venue around Tremont at the Micro Theater on November 1st and 2nd.

Incantations is a 10 minute performance art piece that combines poetry with butoh dance. In an apocalyptic vision, a young woman marvels at the desolation and strange beauty of her new world. She laments what she has lost, while exploring the ruined world around her.
