Askew Theatre Company A GLBTQI/Latinx theatre presenting works from new and emerging playwrights and presenting plays not often produced on the stage.

Askew Theatre Company is an ensemble-based group that presents published plays and develops original plays to workshop and prepare for further development. Our philosophy of new play development takes the script from writer to audience. In the process, it is our goal to produce a new play with a script that expands and improves as it incorporates the talents of every artist associated with the pro

duction and that connects solidly with an audience while keeping as close to the playwright's vision as possible.

The annual National Hispanic Heritage Month is coming up. Askew will be celebrating our Mexican heritage, as we tend to do on the daily, because it's a part of who we are. Love who you are! Love where you're from! Love where you came from!

As we all celebrate our brownness, keep in mind: most folx who have ancestral roots in the Americas don't see themselves as Hispanic. We embrace the term because it is at least an effort towards inclusivity. But the term now seems outdated and inaccurate.

So we pose this question to you: Is it time for a rebranding of the Hispanic Heritage Month? What would you rename it?
