"The Seahorse"
"I saw this underwater scene. I liked it and decided to pick it to repurpose.
My wife was reading the paperwork on it. And it stated, "I think some seahorses should live here." And she just thought it was the sweetest idea. So I decided to leave the scene intact. And add a large, up close seahorse. I decided to wait until mere days before the deadline, so being under pressure would force me to come up with something that I thought would work. I usually don't do a lot of planning, I just go.
I sketched a seahorse in position and got started. I didn't like how it was going. I let it sit for another day. Started again, and didn't feel I was getting what I wanted. Instinct dictated that I completely abstract the scene with a colorful, flowing seahorse. Once I started, it completely went into place, and was finished. I love the flow, colors, and texture. The title comes from the original idea." ~Bart Chase
