DANCECleveland Founded originally as Cleveland Modern Dance Association in 1956, DANCECleveland continues to be: A DANCE PRESENTER AND MORE!

OUR MISSION
DANCECleveland aspires to be a national model for how a presenting organization serves its community, leveraging the world’s best modern and contemporary dance to inspire and educate audiences, local dancers, and community members. We bring renowned modern and contemporary dance companies from around the world to perform on the stages of northeast Ohio through our annual dance series.

A COMMISSIONER of new dance works, DANCECleveland brings up-and-coming choreographers from across the nation to be inspired by our community as they create new dance pieces. AN EDUCATOR through the Read to Learn…Dance To Move program, an early childhood program that brings professional dancers into preschool and kindergarten classrooms to inspire creativity through literacy and movement. A RESOURCE to the dance community by offering free dance classes with visiting world class dancers and directors for local dancers of all ages and abilities. A NATIONAL LEADER recognized by organizations such as Dance/USA for their innovative audience engagement programs such as the Dance Advance Team (DAT), pre and post show activities. A VISIONARY by collaborating with the region’s leading arts, cultural and educational organizations to create co-presenting relationships.

A fun-filled day of dance for the whole family to enjoy!

Starting at 10 am, take part in more than a dozen free classes for all ages and abilities in dance styles including Contemporary, Ballet, African Drum & Dance, Hip Hop, Polynesian, Flamenco, Ballroom, Jazz and more. Community Dance Day is a wonderful time to try out the art form of dance and its many styles and celebrate movement together. Adaptive movement will also be provided by The Dancing Wheels Company artist Sara Lawrence Sucato for Beginner Tap, Contemporary and African Drum and Dance!

Across the Playhouse Square District
A fun-filled day of dance for the whole family to enjoy!

Starting at 10 am, take part in more than a dozen free classes for all ages and abilities in dance styles including Contemporary, Ballet, African Drum & Dance, Hip Hop, Polynesian, Flamenco, Ballroom, Jazz and more. Community Dance Day is a wonderful time to try out the art form of dance and its many styles and celebrate movement together.

Then, at 3 pm, come see a wonderful free dance performance featuring some of Northeast Ohio’s best local youth dancers in Playhouse Square’s Allen Theatre! This showcase provides local dance students with a professional performance experience in an iconic Playhouse Square theatre. The showcase will display a wide range of dance styles and will feature the highest caliber of student performers and choreographers from across Northeast Ohio. Tickets will be general admission.

Bring your dancing shoes on July 25th to celebrate Community Dance Day at Playhouse Square with free dance classes for all ages and abilities, then get ready to hike and enjoy dance within nature in the Summit County Metroparks during the performances of Black by Nature choreographed and created by Dominic Moore-Dunson.
