Longtime Gay People's Chronicle advertiser and supporter of northeast Ohio's LGBT community, Debra (Deb) Dunkle of D. L. Dunkle and Associates, was killed in a traffic accident on Monday, May 4, 2015, while travelling in North Carolina.

She swerved to avoid hitting a slower moving or stopped car, placing her in the path of an oncoming truck. She was killed instantly and the other driver was unharmed. She and her counseling practice, along with her partner Marty (Martha) Webb were decades long supporters of the LGBT community. What a huge loss but what a huge gift she gave our community and our world with her being here.

Shiva will take place on Thursday, May 7th, from 4 PM to 8:30 PM at 1482 Maple Rd., Cleveland Heights, OH 44121, with a service at 7:30 PM.

As the Gay People’s Chronicle celebrates 30 years of publishing, this July, we also celebrate exciting times for greater Cleveland’s LGBT community in the coming months.

This June marks our 25th anniversary of publishing the annual Pride Guide. The Pride Guide is the biggest issue of the year, and it celebrates northeast Ohio’s LGBT community Pride festivals and events. Traditionally, this issue has been the issue that advertisers can’t wait to be involved with, as it celebrates the diversity and scope of northeast Ohio’s LGBT-supportive business community, and readers tend to refer to this issue throughout the year for business services offered in the area. The 25th Anniversary edition of the Pride Guide will be published on June 13, 2014.

This July marks our 30th year in publishing! This is an astounding accomplishment in today’s publishing environment. We continue to believe that there is still a need for print media, despite the immediacy of the Internet and social media outlets. The Gay People’s Chronicle continues to be a tangible reflection of northeast Ohio’s LGBT community, and it’s the only LGBT newspaper in northern Ohio that is preserved in a permanent microfilm record by the Cleveland Public Library. The Chronicle is also part of the historical record at the Western Reserve Historical Society. Publishing of the Gay People’s Chronicle is made possible, solely, with advertising dollars, and we couldn't do it without the support of local businesses and organizations that actively reach out and market to northeast Ohio’s LGBT community. With the support of northeast Ohio’s business community, we will continue to be a resource to the community. The Gay People’s Chronicle celebrates this milestone with its 30th Anniversary special edition on July 11, 2014.

This August marks a huge milestone, as Cleveland welcomes athletes from around the world for Gay Games 9. As the host city for the Gay Games, Cleveland, its LGBT community, and its businesses and organizations will be thrust into the national spotlight. The Gay People’s Chronicle will be celebrating this unprecedented milestone by publishing the Gay Games issue on August 8, 2014, followed up by the Gay Games results issue on August 22, 2014. You won’t want to miss out on being a part of these very special issues!

Finally, the Gay People’s Chronicle is one of only a handful of LGBT publications that publishes an issue which focuses on the HIV/AIDS crisis in America. HIV/AIDS is still a very real problem nationally and locally, and we continue to provide a resource to the community, as a whole, and to those whom have become part of the HIV/AIDS spectrum.

2014 marks a milestone for the Gay People’s Chronicle. For the first time, we will be publishing five special issues, and we rely on the support of organizations and business owners to continue to reach the LGBT community.

It is my hope that your business or organization will support the LGBT community and the Gay People’s Chronicle’s continuing effort to be a tangible part of it. Can I count on your advertising support?
