Introducing the third inductee for this years Indie Filmmaker Hall of Fame: Stacey Malone
Stacey Malone is an award‑winning actress, director, producer, and screenwriter whose creative vision and leadership have shaped the landscape of independent film and women’s representation in media. Born and raised in Greater Cleveland, Stacey began her artistic journey at Wright State University before stepping into early career highlights including the Sundance‑selected Joy Road and celebrated performances at the historic Karamu House.
A multi‑hyphenate storyteller, Stacey has written, produced, and directed a wide range of
original work—from the award‑winning short A Spit Second to the acclaimed web series Now What, which earned multiple festival selections and wins including Best Director and Audience Choice. Her portfolio also includes the musical short 5 Days, the web series The Greek Chronicles, and her feature film lead debut in I’m Having an Affair with My Wife.
Her directing and production expertise extends to documentary storytelling with 216: Legends of the Land, which premiered at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as well as numerous commercial, short‑form, and feature projects. Stacey has also contributed to major national productions such as Shooting Stars, Lost & Found in Cleveland, and a 20th Century Studios/Disney feature, serving in key creative and production roles.
Beyond her artistic achievements, Stacey is a transformative force in the industry. In 2018, she co‑founded the Ohio chapter of Women in Film & Television and continues to serve as its President, championing education, access, and advancement for women across film, television, and digital media. Her leadership has opened doors for countless emerging creatives and strengthened the pipeline for women in production roles statewide.

underrepresented voices, building community, and creating opportunities that illuminate the brilliance and resilience of women storytellers. Her induction into the Hall of Fame honors not only her body of work, but her enduring impact on the creative ecosystem of Ohio and beyond
