We’ve made the decision not to attend or produce the Nerdlesque show at C2E2.

Our work has always centered q***r, POC, immigrant, disabled, and other marginalized performers and fans. We don’t just produce shows, we help curate safe spaces.

Given what we’ve learned about corporate ties to data and surveillance tools used by ICE, continuing to participate at this time does not align with our mission or values.

LexisNexis, a subsidiary of RELX (UK-based), has had documented contracts with DHS/ICE to provide law-enforcement databases used for immigration enforcement. RELX is the parent company of both LexisNexis and ReedPop (via RX/Reed Exhibitions).

Our call to action:
Do not attend C2E2 until clear, transparent steps are taken to ensure their events are not tied to the harm of our communities or to providing data and surveillance tools to ICE

Keep pushing for conventions to do better.

We believe change happens when people speak up together. This is us using the power we have.

Here are some way you can help support your local burlesque and drag show (outside of attending shows.

1) BUY PRESALE IF YOU CAN! This helps the producers/venue plan ahead. Also there are times if presale does not do well the show can get canceled due to not enough attendance/sales. Ticket sales helps pay production costs. So if you are able to buy presale it truly does help with the overall planning of the show and less stress for venue and producers.

2) Share your experiences! If you had fun at the show. SPREAD THE WORD! Share your experience online, tell your friends, tell your co workers, tell your family. When you talk about shows you attended it really helps with visibility on possibly having more people attend the next show. More people that attend the higher the chances of it becoming an accruing show.

3) Engage with performer/production content. Social media relies heavily on engagement. The more you interact the more it shows up on your feed and also boosts to others feeds as well.

4) Tell producers/venue what you liked about the show. Now this is all WITHIN REASON. But producers pay attention to your feedback. Table Tops Off was originally just going to be a one off deal, but by popular demand and listening to you all we brought it back for another year of production.

Overall these shows can’t happen without YOU! We appreciate all the support everyone has given us and other local shows as well. Support small businesses, artists, shows!

Expectation vs. reality.

There are many different styles of burlesque/Nerdlesque and we love them all. But there is honestly nothing more satisfying than hearing someone in the crowd say “ET has me questioning everything” (in a good way 😍)

Go out and support your local shows and artists you never know what you will see on the stage.
