The largest Celestine geode in the world is called ‘Crystal Cave.’ This is unlike most caves or caverns which are often limestone and have stalactites and stalagmites. Celestite is a mineral composed of strontium sulfate SrSO4. This rare mineral formation is found on South Bass Island is in Ohio in the United States. We also carry or at our shop! Unfortunately the crystals are too soft to be made into jewelry. I was delighted to be able to make a journey to see this rare Ohio treasure. Afterwards we also visited the on South Bass Island.
