Meet Evelyn Marinelli, junior intern at Heights Arts and assistant curator of "Colorburst". Following her work on this year’s Student Exhibition, we’re excited to welcome her back next year to help curate the next showcase of young artists.

Marinelli is a Cleveland Heights High School student, cosmetology student, cosplayer, makeup artist, and costume designer whose creative practice blends craftsmanship, performance, and storytelling. She styles her own wigs, designs and sews costumes, and creates detailed cosplay inspired by popular characters.

Her featured work is a cosplay of Mangle from Five Nights at Freddy’s, built from thrifted materials, fabric scraps, ribbons, cardboard, and paint. Through months of planning and handmade construction, Evelyn transforms found materials into immersive character design.

"I style all my own wigs, make all of my own costumes and do my own makeup. I’ve been cosplaying for 5 years and hope that one day I will be able to work professionally with costumes, makeup and wigs." ~Evelyn

We're introducing Amia Frazier, senior intern at Heights Arts and lead curator of "Colorburst", as she concludes her two-year internship with the organization. A graduating senior at Cleveland Heights High School, Amia’s time at Heights Arts has been marked by creative growth, thoughtful collaboration, and a deep exploration of color and expression.

Frazier’s artwork centers around the emotional impact of color and the ways it can transform mood, memory, and everyday experiences. Through mixed media and experimentation with technique, she creates vibrant works that invite viewers into unexpected realities shaped by tone and feeling.

"Colorburst" reflects both her evolving artistic voice and the culmination of her internship experience at Heights Arts.

“I want viewers to look closely at my work and see a transformed world through color and unexpected realities.” ~Amia

Julie Sheil is a University Heights based artist working across several disciplines. As a fiber artist, she creates handwoven baskets using a traditional coiled basketry technique. Her baskets, bowls, and trays blend form and beauty with elegant functionality. As an abstract artist, Julie creates paintings and mixed media work using her intuition as her guide. She tempers the rawness of this approach with thoughtful design and composition. Her work is heavily influenced by her deep connection to the natural world, as evidenced by the use of abstracted landscapes and natural elements. She does not like to dictate what the viewer should see or feel. Instead, Julie invites viewers to experience her work on their own terms.

This summer Julie will be teaching Intro to Abstract Painting and Intro to Intuitive Abstract Collage at Stella’s Art Gallery in Willoughby.

She will also be teaching her Handwoven Basket Workshop at Lakewood Art Supply on various Sundays through the summer.
