Lil Miss Clements Buckaroos Vivianna has been hard at work creating a shirt to honor our fallen soldiers.. both in the line of service and the ones who returned with a burden too heavy to bear. Her goal is to carry these brave men and women across CA with her to help bring awareness and remembrance to those that died fighting for our freedom. It has already seen the arena of Calaveras, the top of Table Top Mountain to speak 100 names of the fallen, and Jackson for a Memorial Day Remembrance ceremony. We hope you take a few moments to learn about her project and the men and women behind the names.

The Miss Clements Stampede Committee and Royalty will be forever greatful to the veterans who are no longer with us. They served, they faught, they retired and are with the Maker in heaven. We thank them for all that they did on this Memorial Day.

Ruby was crowned in this arena in 1967.

She was 22 years old.

She has a photograph from that night.
Black and white. Slightly blurred.
A young woman on a white horse
with a crown she'd been working toward
for three years.

She has looked at that photograph
more times than she can count.

Her granddaughter found it
in a box at the ranch when she was nine.

She brought it to Ruby and said:
"Is that you?"

Ruby said: "That was me."

Her granddaughter looked at it for a long time.

Then said: "I want to do that."

Ruby said: "Then do it."

Nine years later.
Same arena.
Same event.
Same white horse —
because Ruby made sure of it,
found one that matched the photograph
and kept her mouth shut about why.

The crown came down onto her granddaughter's head.

Ruby pressed her hand to her heart.

She wasn't cheering.
She couldn't.

Cheering was for the crowd
who didn't know what they were seeing.

Ruby knew exactly what she was seeing.

She was seeing 1967.
She was seeing the photograph.
She was seeing nine years of a little girl
keeping a promise she made
to an old picture in a box.

She wept quietly
in the front row
while 6,000 people cheered around her.

She let them cheer.

She had something better than cheering.

She had this. 🤠👑

I would like to give a shout out to Kim over at KBarSam Buckles & More! Since I took over the Clements Royalty Program back in 2022, Kim has been the silversmiths for the crowns, buckles and other awards. This year I gave her a challenge... recreating the original Miss Clements Stampede crown. Her and her team did not disappoint and came through and produced a beautiful crown that resembles the original with a little added extra. 😉 Without further ado I would like to introduce the new/old Miss Clements Stampede crown! Which lucky young ladies will take this treasured piece of Clements Stampede Rodeo Royalty home with them?
