Clementon Park Memories

Clementon Park Memories Clementon Park Memories is a page to remember Clementon Park and Splash World. Any memories, photos, Clementon Park ran from 1907 to 2019. Gibbs.

Original buildings from the 1910's still stand such as the cotton candy stall and the food court which use to be the ballroom and bath house. Buildings like this are no longer found in amusement parks. The park was founded in 1907 by Theodore B. The park was eventually sold to Abram Baker in 1977. Eventually Larry Baker, Abram's son, took over the park. The park was sold again in 2007 to Adrenalin

e Family Entertainment. The park was later sold to Premier Parks in 2012. The park closed in 2019 and will be up for auction on March 23rd 2021 for its entirety.

2007 was the last year we would see the classic roller coaster, Jack Rabbit, standing. This coaster ran from 1919 to 2002 and later torn down in by A.F.E. Jack Rabbit was the worlds oldest operating coaster in the 90s until it shut down. Leap the Dips, which was built in 1902, reopened at Lakemont Park and took back the title. Jack Rabbit never received the ACE Classic Coaster Landmark and was never declared a historic landmark. The park itself was never declared a historic landmark despite being 114 years old which would've offered protection for the park. Clementon park was one of the last surviving parks from post and pre World War One. Please share any memories you would like. Photos, videos, testimonies, etc. This page is ran by a previous employee to keep the memories alive.

Installed in 1906, the manpowered Aerial Wave was the first ride at Clementon Park.

Three men held the large, suspended wooden ring's ropes and ran in a circle, rotating the Aerial Wave to the delight of a few dozen riders who sat on top.

One year after the Aerial Wave's debut, the extension of trolley tracks from Haddon Heights to Clementon kicked off Clementon Park's growth, ultimately turning it into the amusement destination it is today!

What a great post from Clementon Historical Commission!! I remember the old animal water fountains, the Jack Rabbit and the carousel house (which I’m still a bit bitter about being removed). This was when Clementon Park still had its old time classic amusement park charm!

#1978

Here I have a brochure from the year 1978!!! I have the original envelope that it initially was mailed with. I marked out the address in blue to keep the address and name private.

Here we can see some old rides such as the Whip and Jack Rabbit printed on the brochure and directions on how to get to Clementon Park!

Stamps were only 15 cents! The envelope and brochure are in amazing condition but also a little fragile due to the age.

Here, I have a vintage swimming medal from Clementon Lake Park. The year of this is unknown. The company who manufactured this is Loren Murchinson & Co. Inc. Unfortunately, I could not find much information about this company other than Loren Murchinson himself was an Olympic gold medalist in 1918, 1920, 1923 and 1925.

If I could guess a year for this item, I would have to guess between the 1920s and 1940s.

This item is in amazing condition for how old it is. The box is still intact regardless of some folding around the edges.

This is the oldest and most historic piece of Clementon Park I currently have in my possession.

I have other older items that I will be posting in the future!

MEMORABILIA: Here we have a few ride signs from Joe! Joe worked at Clementon Park for many years and has these signs in his office. Joe also has other signs from within the park he will send in at another time. Joe can tell the best stories from working at Clementon over the years!

The Thunderbolt was removed in 2010 to make room for Thunder Drop (commonly mistaken as “Super Shot” by the public due to the rides decal signs).

PERSONAL MEMORABILIA: Here I have the original GRAVITRON warning sign. This sign was sitting by a trash can in 2011 in the employee area (the ride operated in the 90s) ready to be disposed. I asked if I could take it and was told yes. Unfortunately, the sign is too heavy to be nailed on the outside of my bedroom door. Clementon Park & Splash World
