๐ฉ As the run of ๐ง๐๐ง๐๐ก๐๐ ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ ๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น continues at Plaza Theatre Company we often get asked in the Box Office who are playing Jack and Rose. Well the fact is, Jack and Rose are fictional characters created for the famed 1997 film. ๐ง๐๐ง๐๐ก๐๐ ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ ๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น tells the real stories of the actual people on board the doomed luxury liner. So today we're offering our next in a series of stories about those on board Titanic.

๐ is one of two wireless operators on the Titanic who received ice warnings and relayed the SOS call to Captain Smith. Bride survived the sinking by clinging to the overturned Collapsible Lifeboat B.

๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐ is a homemaker who wishes she was a socialite, and finally has the chance to approximate one on the Titanic! She gleefully shares the latest gossip about each and every millionaire on the ship, and hones in on their every private space and private occasion as an area or event to crash, with sheer delight. This is the life she desperately wants, and she canโt understand why her husband Edgar doesnโt have the same aspirations.
๐ฒ๐๐๐๐ ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ต๐๐๐๐๐๐ is based on real life Titanic passenger Ada Maria Clarke who in fact was already married to Charles Clarke when they set sail. In the musical her name was changed as well as certain details of her story including the fact that she was actually a British middle class passenger on her way with her husband to a new job in America. Charles tragically perished in the sinking while Ada survived aboard Lifeboat 11.

๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐๐ is based on 2 different Stokers who shared the same name on the Titanic and were close in age. He is strong, keenly intelligent, and capable.
๐ฌ๐๐๐๐ ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ฒ๐๐๐ ๐ด๐๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ is escaping a big mistake made in Ireland by boarding the Titanic for America. Single, she is pregnant (although not yet showing) with the child of a married man.

๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐พ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐๐ is based on the ship's Band Leader and violinist who led the group of musicians in playing on the deck of the ship as Lifeboats were being launched. Though he didn't survive, his personal violin was recovered after the sinking and is now owned by a private collector.

๐๐๐ is a fictionalized blend of two real-life First Class passengers: Charlotte Drake Cardeza and Margaret "Molly" Brown. The character's name and her background, such as booking the most expensive suite on the ship and traveling with an enormous amount of luggage, are based directly on the historical Philadelphia socialite Charlotte Drake Cardeza. However, her first-class smoking room scene, where she scandalizes the wealthy men by joining them for a game of cards, is based on the legendary behavior of "Molly" Brown, who frequently challenged the rigid social norms of the upper class.
๐ต๐๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ญ๐๐๐๐ ๐ถ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ณ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ was the highest ranking officer to survive the sinking of RMS Titanic. He did so by balancing on the overturned bottom of Lifeboat Collapsible B throughout the night until Carpathia arrived the following morning. His firsthand account of what went on behind-the-scenes after the ship struck the iceberg gave great detail about the actual conversations that took place that fateful night.
