We here at Angels Erotic and the Art of Angels Gallery were pretty damn surprised to find out that we won a Creative Loafing’s Best of the Bay 2021, Critic’s Choice Award for Best Dirty Pics!

We have just seen the list of all the amazing artists and art venues nominated for Best of the Bay titles. Unfortunately, the Art of Angels Gallery did not receive enough votes to make the top 20 nominees. On the other hand, I was taken by surprise to discover that, Angels Erotic, the host of the Art of Angels Gallery has been nominated for Best of the Bay 2021..!

For this upcoming exhibit, opening February 5th and 6th 2021, we are pleased to announce that we will be working with Diversity Arts.

This 503c charitable organization was founded by studio artist John Gascot in 2016. This was Gascot's response to being targeted, in his own home, via hate mail by a neighbor. What was meant to instill fear and shame, John transformed into positivity and productivity by empowering disenfranchised youth and LGBTQ groups using art as a means to promote community support and artistic expression.

Gascot used his passion by starting a workshop, working with homeless and at-risk youth. As the demand grew, he created a nonprofit in order to fund the work through grants and donations. Workshops and activities are currently offered in-studio, at schools and community centers.

John envisions a Diversity Arts Center in the future. The center would hold ongoing art and youth development programming taught by a staff of educators and facilitators and host exhibits by artists from disenfranchised and diverse communities who have overcome adversity to reach their professional artistic goals.

We at the Art of Angels Gallery hope to assist Diversity Arts in continuing their great work in the community and bring them closer to the dream of its founder by donating proceeds from events, admissions, art sales commissions, and any other creative ways of raising funds at our disposal.
