My biggest pet peeve is when I see people hold a microphone the way they've seen it on TV. The problem is all microphones are not the same.

If you see professionals holding a microphone around the top and are singing/rapping into the top it is a uni-directional microphone. The sensitivity is at the top. Plus they have a Sound Engineer helping.

However, most public microphones are multidirectional and when you cover the sides and top it muffles the voice and creates the opportunity for feedback/squealing. Many times there is No Sound Engineer helping or there is limited ability to help.

Since relocating to Clearlake there is still much to do as far as the studio is concerned, however I am still able to do vocal and performance coaching via video. This has become very successful. Taking new students after the holidays.

Today worked with East Bay Mobile Recording at the studio. We helped Caffrey Insurance Solutions record the audio portion of an ad campaign. It's always interesting working with people and finding out about what is truly important about their message. Part of our process is understanding your goal so the result is easier to achieve.
