Let's take another trip back in time...👀⏳

In 1972 Clayton hosted its first ever Soybean Festival! As agricultural focus changed, so did the name of Clayton's favorite fall tradition. 🍁🍂

Activities featured at the Soybean Festival included a costume contest, pet parade, watermelon eating and seed spitting contests, as well as live music and the continued tradition of a beauty pageant. 🎶👑

What did Clayton look like 75 years ago?🍂🍁

The Clayton Harvest Festival used to look a little different.👀 Seventy-five years ago, Clayton hosted its first ever Cotton Festival! Festivities included a parade with floats from local businesses, a pageant and talent show, and a Cotton Festival Ball held at Clayton High School.🌻🎉

Beginning in 1951, this festival gave Clayton statewide recognition and brought thousands of people to our beautiful town. The Clayton Merchant's Association (now known as the Clayton Chamber of Commerce) started the festival to act as an economic driver and community tradition that last to this day!🎃⛅
