I spoke with Keith Barras, owner of the Hotel Eklund. I asked if he felt the Festival was a success, He said it unequivocally was.

Thanks to the audiences for their support! The poets for their wonderful poetry and the performers for their hard work and professionalism.

Safe to say the Hotel Eklund Third Annual Songwriter Festival is a resounding success! Magnificent performances by the artists, superhuman efforts by the staff and enthusiastic responses by the audience made it all a worthwhile effort.

There was a 95 year old great grandmother in the audience. She was the sweetest fan ever.

I love Clayton, New Mexico!

Texas Poets Laureate Karla K. Morton and Alan Birkelbach are excited to be performing MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND (May 27 & 28) at the Hotel Eklund Third Annual Songwriter Festival in Clayton, New Mexico! They will share from their book, The National Parks: A Century of Grace, based on their 3 1/2 year national park tour visiting ALL 62 national parks in the US.

Lisa Carver, award-winning singer/songwriter along with other amazing artists will also be performing. Stop by if you’re in the area for some live music, poetry, food and fun!!!

There will be events throughout the weekend; Poetry readings and music abound!
