We were forced to abandon The CostumeShop at the old Civic in August, 2016, when a beam broke. We have been getting costumes out sporadically, and they are finding a new home. Currently, the very generous Lori Legg Germer [lorigermer.musicteachershelper.com] has loaned us space, now the CostumeLoft, above her music studio, in downtown Clarkston. We were unable to recover many of the hanging racks
[nothing attached to a wall!], so most of the costumes that should be on hangers are currently residing in bags. The boxes and bags that we used in the old shop were damaged by the cold while still entombed, and will need to be replaced. The CostumeLoft is an integral part of the Lewiston Civic Theatre, a not-for-profit organization that runs primarily on donated time and treasure. The CostumeLoft is thrilled to accept treasure:
Especially important now: Sturdy rolling racks for hanging costumes, clear plastic zippered bags [the ones that linens come in] in all sizes, and clear storage boxes in all sizes. The ones with snap on lids, in medium to large [but not gargantuan] sizes, are the most useful. We love donated clothing and costumes - modern and vintage, casual and dressy, plain and fancy, in all shapes and sizes. We use fabric, thread, notions, trims, braid, buttons, ribbons and more to MAKE costumes. Some donations we will keep as is, to use on stage. Some we will take apart and rebuild, to use on stage. Some we may sell to help fund the CostumeLoft and the Civic. So, if you have a sentimental attachment to the item(s) you are considering donating, you should not donate them to us. If you are willing to let the item(s) go to our best use, we will put it to that good use. And, as far as time goes:
A wonderful group volunteers help find and, when necessary create, costumes for current productions, and sort and return used costumes back into storage. If you would be interested in joining this crew, please message us. To contact us:
