Well, the reviews are in!
"Pride and Prejudice" by Andrew Davies, based on the novel by Jane Austen and directed by Shelly Hudson of Amplified Arts, is a well-executed, charming retelling of the familiar tale of the romantic tension between Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Set in the 19th century, it also comically and poignantly highlights the era's pressures on a family of five daughters approaching marriageable age. The costuming, as designed and created by Azalea Eve Hudson, is impeccable. Shelly Hudson's direction enables quick, fluid scene changes that propel the story effectively. As portrayed by 15 very talented actors, the story was a delight to watch unfold on the historic Maxfield Parrish stage set at the Plainfield, New Hampshire, village town hall. The performance, which runs for approximately 2 hours, is a must-see. I encourage as many of you as possible to attend the upcoming performances at the Brandon Town Hall.
Tickets at the door at the Brandon Town Hall, Brandon, VT - $20 General, $15 senior/under 18, and Camp Thorpe Campers (Make sure to wear your Camp Thorpe merch!).
This event is not just a performance; it's a fundraiser for our camper fund. Your support helps cover the cost of hosting our campers, 85% of whom are from Vermont, at our summer camp in Goshen, VT. Over our 98 years in operation, we have hosted over 10,000 campers with disabilities. Your attendance at this event is a tangible contribution to the population we serve, and we couldn't do it without you!
Note on the images: The Mountain and Foliage backdrop will not be part of the Brandon Production. The backdrop is the original Maxfield 1917 Parrish Stage Set located in Plainfield, NH. It does not travel, but it made for a beautiful stage setting for the show!
