Overtime I have watched my relationship with poetry change & my relationship with poetry scenes change.
I have found myself falling in and out of love with my passion due to things I have encountered.
Allowing people to taint how I showed up for myself and for others. The drama, the cliques, the obsession, the judgement, the lack of safe spaces, the talent and lack thereof...the hype, the lack of support in spaces that deserved more. The ego, the π riding, the group thought, the opportunists, the stealing of ideas, the false perceptions without really knowing me or people...ETC ETC
And I have had to ask myself...how is that fair to my art and my purpose? Why do things have to be this way?
I don't want to hide anymore, I am not interested in performance the same way because I just want my heart to be back in it. I just want the love to feel genuine, I just want the safety to be present. I want the real, raw artistry, the vulnerability, the appreciation, the honesty.
Not the doing it for clout, or for likes, or whatever weird type of time people be on..
We as artists, have a duty and a mission to deliver messages and to stand for causes and we lose sight of that out here playin stupid games and winning no real prizes.
Aint a soul on this earth that can take away the gifts that were given to me, the gifts that were given to us.
I am ready to stop acting like we have so much time and devote myself back to showing up for me. If that's what you are on...let's get it!
