A tiny Perfect Place for a tiny person.

I made this baby-sized version of Perfect Place for my sweet nephew when he was born (he’s three now), and somehow it’s gotten almost no time on my feed. The way the warm golden background contrasts with the soft prints might be my favorite part…although the ridiculously soft Cuddle minky backing from is a very close second. Always Cuddle for the win.

Baby quilts are just extra special when you know exactly who they’re going home to. 💛

I’ll give this Crossroads quilt a proper photo shoot and show you the whole thing soon, but first I need a minute for the quilting. 😍

My Gammill Classic longarm came to me as a hand-me-down, and I very nearly panicked and backed out of bringing it home when I realized it doesn’t have stitch regulation. I was convinced there was no way I’d ever be able to quilt well on it.

I brought it home anyway.

It was built the year I graduated from high school—which was, ahem, not recently 😂—and it gives me plenty of headaches. But I genuinely love having it, and I’ve come to love doing my own hand-guided quilting on it just as much.

There are so many gorgeous computerized quilting designs out there, and I genuinely love the way they look. But once, when I was pointing out the imperfections in my own quilting, my husband reminded me that those imperfections are part of what makes something handmade special. And he’s right.

The more I quilt, the more I think of hand-guided quilting almost like handwriting. The stitches carry a little bit of my own movement in them. They aren’t mechanically identical, because I’m not mechanically identical from one pass to the next. And I’ve come to recognize that as beautiful in its own way.

That said, this particular design definitely pushed me. 😂 Chandelier Feathers by Christy Dillon was challenging for me to stitch smoothly and to keep all of those lines moving where they were supposed to go. There are absolutely places where I can see the struggle…but I’m pretty dang happy with how it turned out.

And then there’s the other reason I keep flipping this quilt over to stare at it: nothing shows off quilting quite like Cuddle minky from . Just LOOK at all that texture. 😍

The Willow collection by will forever be one of my favorites, and this Perfect Place quilt was such a lovely one to make. I gifted the finished quilt away and sometimes think about making something similar again.

Sharon Holland’s newest collection, Charming One, is giving me a lot of the same feelings I loved about Willow: soft, pretty, a little romantic, and full of prints that would be so good in this pattern. And now I can’t stop thinking about making another Perfect Place…this time one that stays at my house.

I have spent hours sitting on my sewing room floor surrounded by fabric, pulling things out, putting them back, making little piles, abandoning little piles… you know the drill. 🤪

I originally thought my South Beach quilt was going in a completely different direction, but somewhere along the way I decided I wanted it to feel like it was heading toward fall—without giving up all the bright, cheerful color I love.

The print in the second photo by one of my longtime favorite designers, , was one of my starting points. Then I kept coming back to the completely different floral in the third photo from another favorite, . On their own, they really don’t have much in common. 😂 But I loved them both and wanted them both in this quilt, so I just kept pulling fabrics until somehow they started to make sense together.

And I think they do?? The mix of print styles is honestly all over the place, but the colors are tying everything together in a way that feels warm and fall-ish and still bright and happy. I am VERY excited about this one.

I’m making South Beach by after loving making my Crossroads Quilt so much, and right now I’m considering using the low-volume prints on the left for the centers of each block. But I’m not totally committed yet. Would you use the low volumes there, or keep the whole quilt colorful?

Stellata is having a bit of a moment. 🌟

This pattern has always been a top seller for both me and my co-designer Lisa, .quilts, but over the past couple of days we’ve both noticed a pretty significant little flurry of Stellata orders—and I am absolutely here for it.

Mostly, I just keep thinking about how many lovely Stellata quilts are about to come into the world, and I can’t wait to see them!

Crossroads Quilt blocks are coming together fast and fun, and I love them! I’ve had my eye on this pattern by for awhile and decided to try to squeeze it in before summer ends. I’m so glad I did!

The finished size will be a nice throw, and I’m wanting something cozy for the backing. What would you use? Minky? Flannel? Something else?

I’m waiting on a few extra fabrics for my scrappy Halloween quilt, so naturally I decided this was the perfect time to cut into something completely different and add another quilt to my WIP list. 🤪

This Crossroads Quilt started with a bundle that then grew quite a bit as I started pulling from my stash. I’m so excited about this soft, outdoorsy mix of blues, greens, creams, and little pops of ochre and rust.

Swipe through to see a beautiful print by of my favorite place on Earth. It’s been sitting on my cutting table waiting for a frame, and once I laid out these fabrics next to it, I realized just how perfectly the colors belong together. 💙🌲 I’ll have to get it up on the wall to enjoy while I’m working.

Okay, I think I’ve found my next project! 🎃 Because my 40-ish project long WIP list obviously needs one more.

I pulled out every Halloween print in my stash, and apparently Past Me has been preparing for this moment for quite some time. 😂

I’m going to use these for a scrappy Great Heights quilt by , with the blacks and grays doing most of the background work and all these Halloween colors scattered throughout the rest.

But looking at this pull, I definitely need MORE color. I’m loving the pinks, purples, oranges, and mustardy golds, and I’m thinking some greens and teals might be exactly what it needs.

So help me shop my stash: what colors would you add to this mix? Would you go green? Teal? Both? Something else entirely?

Time to go digging through the fabric bins. 👻🕸️🎃
