DID YOU PRE-REGISTER YET?!

The Cissna Park American Legion Post 527 has agreed to sponsor carnival wristbands (afternoon session) for children Pre-K through 8th grade that are registered for the parade in advance!

We would like to have parade participants register in advance, instead of signing up thirty minutes prior to the parade. This will help us to shorten the amount of time parade participants sit before the parade begins. You will find the sign up form on our page: Old Settlers Parade, in the comments of this post and in the newspaper. Please send complete forms to [email protected] or PO Box 46, Claytonville, Illinois 60926 or drop off at Perfume Acres Country Market. The email address provided is monitored by the parade committee.

A few things to remember:

💥As an alternative to throwing candy, walkers will be allowed to pass out things such as koozies, gift certificates, popsicles, pens, stickers, candy bags etc.

💥Anyone driving a vehicle, tractor, golf-cart, etc MUST BE 16 and hold a valid driver’s license.

💥There is no specific theme for the parade, but if you’re stuck, we ALWAYS recommend decking your float out to a Patriotic Theme!

💥If we have any issues with weather, please watch our page for any updates.

💥The following categories will be judged and awarded cash prizes:

-Walking, Bicycles, Tricycles, Small Pets*, Scooters & RollerBlades, Non-Motorized Float, Wagons & Mini Vehicles
First- $50
Second-$40
Third-$30
*We ask if you bring your small pets, that you abide by town rules. Please make sure your pet is on a leash.

-Golf Cart/Gator (No Trailer)-

💥All Veterans are welcome and encouraged to ride in the parade on a special float. Please meet at the Legion Home at 11:30 a.m. A hay rack will be provided.

💥The Ed Schuldt Memorial Antique Tractor Parade will return, and we’d love to add antique vehicles of any kind!

ALL parade entries WISHING TO BE JUDGED should arrive at the line-up area by 11:15 AM. Judging will begin at 11:15 AM and conclude by 11:45 AM in order to ensure the parade begins on time and prizes are handed out.

ALL ENTRIES should enter town from the North on 3rd or 4th Street and line-up facing South at 11 am. A map cam be found in the CP News or pinned at the top of our page.

The parade moves out at Noon. The procession will travel East on Blaine Street to Route 49 then South past the park to Koplin Avenue where it will END at the Legion.

The parade will not reverse. Please make sure your float is double sided so both sides of the street can see what your entry looks like! The parade will proceed down the center of St. Route 49 and again, end at the Legion. It is our suggestion that participants then turn down Martin Ave to the East and back down First Street to the North. However, it is up to the parade participants on which route they will take. As always, traffic on Route 49 will be detoured for the day.
