With deep sorrow, we pay tribute to one of our members and dear friends: Darryl Kawn Howard.
Kawn first became an active member of Roundtown Players in 2018, appearing as an actor in Our Town. He returned to our stage in 2025 in Christmas Carol, Inc., and from that point on became an incredibly involved and valued part of RTP. Though we wish we could have had more time with him, we know with absolute certainty that the impact he made on Roundtown Players will endure for a long time to come.
Ask our members about Kawn, and you will hear about an extraordinary director, a thoughtful mentor, and a role model who brought out the best in those around him. He was always willing to listen, offer thoughtful insight, and encourage others to grow—not only as actors, but as people. His kindness was unmatched, and his belief in others left a lasting impression on those who had the opportunity to work with him.
Kawn was actively dedicated to helping improve RTP. He had recently joined our Board of Trustees and stepped into a leadership role with our youth program, Roundtown Rascals, continuing to invest his time, talent, and heart in the future of our theater. He was always looking for ways to make our organization better, and through his generosity and wisdom, he did exactly that.
The loss of Kawn leaves a space in our theater family that cannot be filled. But the kindness he showed, the confidence he helped build in others, and the example he set will remain a part of who we are. We will honor him in the way we move forward: by listening to one another, supporting one another, striving to grow with every rehearsal, working together through every set-building day, and giving our best in every performance. Everything that Kawn gave to us at RTP were gifts that we will have with us far beyond the stage and long after curtain call.

His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wellman’s Funeral Home to help cover funeral expenses.
