Sun 6/21 8:00 PM (Choir Auditions Only)
Mon 6/22 & Tues 6/23 6:30pm (Ensemble & Principal Auditions)

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, a dance audition, and singing. Auditioners should wear closed-toe shoes and movement clothing for the dance audition. All audition song cuts are listed on the audition registration.

All roles are open. All auditioners must be at least 18 years of age. All auditioners (except those ONLY auditioning for choir) will be asked to participate in a dance audition, no matter the role you are auditioning for.

Meet the cast of The Pirates of Penzance! Last, but certainly not least, are the leaders of this chaotic yet lovable band of characters: the Pirate King (Abia Johnson) a thunderous and fearless swashbuckler often operating without a plan & the Major-General (Tim Herman) a sophisticated and lovable father of 11 who confidently deploys information regardless of its relevance.

Abia Johnson (Pirate King) is thrilled to be making his second appearance on the BCF stage. Abia is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return in such an exciting role. The past year has marked a meaningful and dynamic journey back to the stage, with credits including Bat Boy, CATS, Anastasia, and now Pirates. Abia extends heartfelt thanks to his wife and kids for their unwavering support and encouragement in pursuing this next chapter. With a deep sense of gratitude and a spirit of adventure, Abia is ready to chart the course ahead—after all, every good pirate knows the real treasure is the journey.

Tim Herman (Major General Stanley) is fulfilling a lifelong dream with this production of The Pirates of Penzance. Obsessed with the 1981 Broadway Cast Recording, with Kevin Kline, Linda Ronstadt, etc, it only took over four decades until the chance came along to be a part of this G & S classic. Previous credits at BCF include Sweeney Todd, The Importance of Being Earnest, Damn Yankees, Lend Me a Tenor, The Producers, The Prom, Noises Off, and She Loves Me. Tim directed “Fully Committed for BCF’s 2nd Stage, and Bat Boy. Other recent appearances include Playmasters, The Ritz, MTC, and The Eagle Theatre. Tim would like to thank all the people at Zion Lutheran Church in Riverside, where he serves as the Director of Music, for being incredibly supportive and understanding. Tim also thanks the cast, crew, and production team for being their usual amazing selves. Special ‘shoutouts’ to the Chaos Crafters, the Bermuda Triangle, and all the cast members in the Fall Children’s Theater productions.
