Watch Manifest Emerge...

We made a 2-minute time lapse documentary of the construction that brought the new Print Wing of the Manifest Center for the Visual Arts into being (at the Manifest Drawing Center). This is work accomplished by Phase 1 across a full year, captured from the ground up from May 2025 through May 2026. Watch it below.
https://vimeo.com/1202155254

Now we're entering the final stretch. As of this June, Phase 2A has begun, including HVAC for our second floor only, and a handful of upgrades and preliminary work we can take on right now. But that's the small part of the drive for a whole Manifest. The real finish line is Phase Two in full, the step that, for the first time in our 22-year history, brings every Manifest program under one roof.

That means a permanent home for the Neighborhood Gallery for the World, relocating Manifest Gallery after 22 years on Woodburn Avenue; the new Art Economy Lab; the Manifest Archives and Art Reference Library; replacing the legacy HVAC that failed us completely this past January; and the accessibility upgrades that make all of it sustainable and people-facing.

And we're working against a real deadline. Our temporary occupancy permit expires in early 2027, which means Phase 2B must begin this fall. Final funding has to be secured now.

We're already more than 90% of the way to our $8 million campaign goal. We've come this far because people share our belief that a permanent sanctuary for the practice, learning, and experience of the visual arts is worth building.

To help us close the final gap, or to encourage others to help, visit our campaign webpage—link in the comments.

A nice piece of recognition...

(We note that where it says Manifest Gallery, it really means Manifest Gallery AND Manifest Drawing Center) - the future Manifest Center for the Visual Arts.

The work is a labor of love, by artists, for artists, for the community.

By Christian Meininger, Contributor Though understanding Manifest Gallery may appear difficult on the surface, it can be broken down into two parts: an art gallery and art studio. For 22 years, the…

BUILT TO LAST

Manifest was built to keep doing something, every single week like clockwork, for as long as we're standing: run serious exhibitions, sustain studio programs, support working artists, and open our doors to anyone willing to walk through them.

We've spent the past year talking about Manifest Emerges—our capital campaign, our new building (M1), our future on Central Parkway. All of that matters enormously. In fact our future depends on it. But something separate and equally essential has been underfunded quietly in the background: the Annual Fund. The one that pays the bills that don't wait for a capital campaign to close.

And now there's even more to work for. This spring, Manifest's new Printmaking Studio opened at Central Parkway—stone lithography, etching, relief, and more, with presses already filling with eager learners and practicing printmakers. It's one of the most exciting things we've launched at Manifest Drawing Center in years. It also needs the Annual Fund to keep running.

Manifest's rent on Woodburn Avenue more than doubled in January 2025. The Envision Project—our free summer darkroom photography program for regional teens now in its 9th year—exists because of donor support and the generosity of grant funders, neither of which is guaranteed from year to year. Exhibiting artist honoraria for this season's 36 exhibitions for approximately 250 different artists. Tuition-free studio access during Study Hall offering more than 250 hours of free public studio time at our beautiful home on Central Parkway. All of it is Annual Fund work.

Not long ago, a model in our life drawing session said in a quiet aside to me, simply: "I'm so happy this place exists."

That's what this is for.

If Manifest is something you believe in, the Annual Fund is how you make sure it keeps happening. Any amount helps. We are aiming for a truly important goal before August 31st—to exceed any previous season's number of individual donors giving ANY amount to help move Manifest forward.

Your support would be most appreciated by many people, because our programs reach deeply, near and far. If you can...
