Steel Magnolias is set in Louisiana. Have you ever visited Louisiana? If so, what part? What did you like best about it?
I've been to New Orleans -- fell in love with the food, the vibe, and a beefy Cajun swamp tour guide.

Steel Magnolias is set in a salon. What is your favorite hairstyle and why? What is the worst haircut you've ever received? How long did you have it and how did you "cover it up"?
The worst was not so much a cut as a perm. In high school, during the disco 70s, I got a short curly perm. It was only that one time in my life, but it was immortalized as a yearbook picture. Apparently, even some pre-internet mistakes are forever.

Is this your first show with Sunset Players or have you performed with them before?
I've done many shows with Sunset, but not for a very long time. So happy to finally be back!

What has been your favorite role to date?
One of my all-time favorites was for Sunset -- Bella in Lost in Yonkers.

Which scene is your favorite and why?
I love Ouiser's entrances. She's self absorbed in the most forgivable way.

How do you prepare for a show? What are your pre-show rituals?
I don't have any strict rituals. Let me make one up. How about, "I do baby goat yoga in the parking lot right before call time. Also, I have a baby goat."

What is your name?

What is your role in this show? Stage Manager

Steel Magnolias is set in Louisiana. Have you ever visited Louisiana? If so, what part? What did you like best about it? I have NOT been to Louisiana.

Steel Magnolias is set in a salon. What is your favorite hairstyle and why? What is the worst haircut you've ever received? How long did you have it and how did you "cover it up"? I like long wavy or curly hair, just not on my head. I think it is soft and pretty. I just can't personally wear long hair.

Is this your first show with Sunset Players or have you performed with them before? I have had the privilege of working with Sunset for many years. Though it has been a while since my last show with them. I am glad to be back!

What has been your favorite role to date? Um...stage manager. I'm happiest behind the book.

Which scene is your favorite and why? I enjoy all of the back and forth between Clairee and Ouiser. You can tell they have been friends forever!

How do you prepare for a show? What are your pre-show rituals? I have to be sure all of the props are in place, all of the tech is working and my cast has all of their needs met.

Steel Magnolias will be presented September 18-26, 2026 at The Arts Center at Dunham, home of Sunset Players. Show times on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays are at 7:30 and Sunday at 2PM. Please note, there is only one Sunday matinee for this show.

This beautiful, well known story, (based on the playright's sister's life), demonstrates the strong, unbreakable bond between women in the face of life's joys and challenges.

Calling all budding young actors!

Is your child ready to take the stage? The Sunset Players Summer Theater Program officially kicks off this Monday, and this is your last chance to join!

Join us for an exciting two-week intensive morning camp designed to help kids build confidence, sharpen their instincts, and deepen their understanding of live storytelling. Students will learn character building, improvisation, voice projection, and more from our expert guest speakers, culminating in a final live performance for the audience!

Camp Details:

Do you have a budding actor at home who’s ready to grow as a performer? The Sunset Players Summer Theater Program is a two-week intensive experience for kids ages 6-17 focused on developing real performance skills.

Students will strengthen their acting toolkit through lessons in character work, stage presence, movement, vocal performance, improvisation, scene study, rehearsal techniques, and ensemble collaboration. Designed to challenge and inspire performers at every level, the program helps young actors build confidence, sharpen their instincts, and deepen their understanding of storytelling and live performance.

Throughout the program, participants will work alongside fellow actors in a rehearsal-based environment. The experience culminates in a live performance, giving students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in front of an audience.

Whether your child is exploring theater for the first time or looking to expand their existing skills, the Summer Theater Program offers a chance to grow as a performer, connect with other young actors, and gain valuable stage experience in a creative and supportive environment.

The Sunset Players Summer Theater Program runs from June 8-19 from 9 am-12 noon, on weekdays. Fees are $55 per child.
