ALL LOCAL BLUES BANDS…..TIME TO START GETTING YOUR ENTRIES IN TO PLAY IN THE 2026 CHALLENGE

The Cincy Blues Society is seeking emerging artists to compete in the Cincy Blues Challenge which will take place on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Jim & Jack’s.

Whether you play contemporary blues, blues rock, soul blues, country blues, or traditional blues, this competition is for you. We’re seeking to modernize and expand the genre as well as attract younger artists and audiences. We’re interested in whatever your creative vision of blues is, and of course, talented acts who can put on an engaging live performance.

This is an independently judged competition. Judges will be listening for inspired and original song selections or new takes on blues standards. Creative reach is encouraged.

Prizes include a performance slot at this summer’s Cincy Blues Fest as well as entry into the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN in early 2027. A good showing at the International competition has helped a number of acts launch their professional careers.

The Semi Final results of the 2026 The Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge are in. Unfortunately the Cincy Blues Society 2026 Challenge Representatives, Band- Cat ( Catrina Campbell Cat Campbell Brian Franks Oscar Bernal ) & The $2 Pistol and Solo/Duo Mutt & Jeff ( Sonny Moorman Jeff Dion ), did not advance to the Semi Finals this year. Our Self Produced CD Help Yourself by Marcos Sastre was not in the Finals.
Both of our CBS Cincy Blues Challenge Winners were among crowd favorites and it showed, the crowds loved them. There were over 140 + bands competing and we are very Proud at both of our Winners and their stellar performances and their presentations to the Blues World representing our Society and themselves. Winning is not just about placing first, Winning is about You Doing What You Love to Do, Play & Sing Blues Music.

Going to Memphis to compete is not just about winning, it's about how each Blues Artist contributes to Keeping the Blues Alive from the past and for future generations. It's about meeting other Blues Artists, making connections, making lifelong friends, sharing the Love of music, about being part of the Blues music history, and most of all, making memories and showing the world what makes you a Blues Artist. Being in Memphis is just a step of an Artists career, not the end of it, but a new beginning along in your journey. Each Blues Artist becomes and is a Winner the moment they step onto any stage.
