This month's featured artist is interdisciplinary, multi-media extraordinaire Ciara LeRoy. Her work creates a moment of intimacy between art and viewer, inviting you to look more closely to see the thoughtful, meticulous detail she threads into her compositions. From local artist residencies, to public murals, and solo shows, Ciara has left her mark on Cincinnati. See more of her work on CincyArtistNetwork.com-- link in bio!

Image alt text: Text in the upper left corner of the image reads “featured artist”. Beneath it is a rounded photograph of artist Ciara LeRoy. She holds a bouquet of flowers, playfully fashioned from pipe cleaners. She stands in front of a light purple background, face tilted up in a full smile. She wears her hair in long braids, and is wearing an orange top with green bottoms. Beneath her photograph it reads “Ciara LeRoy, murals, embroidery, painting”, and beneath that there is the Cincinnati Artist Network logo, “CAN”.

The first featured artwork is a piece of 90s geometric fabric stretched on stretcher bars. Rendered in embroidery floss just a shade or two lighter than the fabric, the secret words read “listen to Black women” in all capital letters. The fabric shows zig zags in blue, red, and gray, as well as stripes in pink and black, and blue and pink squares.

The second image is a close-up photograph of small embroidery hoops, each featuring a different floral fabric and a single secret letter embroidered on each hoop.

The third image shows a vertical striped painting rendered in blues, reds, and whites, with black accents. The bottom has 3 horizontal stripes in blocks of color. The secret words rendered meticulously in the center of the painting read “America! America!”. On top of the image is a quote from the artist reading “I am using creativity to build conversational bridges.”

The final image is a painting framed in wood, painted in colorful vertical stripes, and three bottom horizontal stripes. The colors are white, yellow, blue, green, pink, red, and blue with black accents. The secret words in the center of the painting read “Look after one another.” The bottom of the image says “see more work by Ciara LeRoy at Cincyartistnetwork.com”

🎶 Summer tiiiiime, and seeing art is easy 🎶

Art is all around us in Cincinnati—you just have to know where to look! From colorful murals to public installations, local artists are bringing creativity beyond conventional walls and into the spaces we share every day.

This July, get to know some of the public artists and muralists whose work makes Cincinnati a more vibrant, creative place to call home. Who knows—you might recognize a piece you pass every day!

Alt text: The top left reads "featured" and beneath it in all caps the title reads "Art for all." Beneath the title are two squared images side by side, one of a geometric building facade painted with colorful patterns, including stripes, zig zags, chevrons, and dots, in yellows, purples, blues, pinks, and oranges. The next image features a golden goddess face, a golden helmet being placed on her head by an owl with its wings spread. Surrounding this goddess figure are expressive illustrations of a golden lion with a sharp-toothed grin, holding a pink post-it with a light bulb drawn on it, a pink boar in a gingham shirt holding a short stubby pencil, a woman in a pink hat and shirt typing on a vintage computer, a personified typewriter with big eyes and a curved smile, a personified cheese Coney with rosy cheeks, and more. Beneath the images it reads "Art is for everyone. Meet the public artists behind the bricks and paint who are bringing art into the open." "CAN Cincinnati Artist Network"

A magical deer with gently curving antlers and ears like blue butterfly wings with white hearts on them is centered on a bright blue backdrop. The deer's shape is simplified, with long elegant legs, a simple tail, and a dark stare, looking right at the viewer. It also has three blue, almond-shaped markings on its forehead. Behind the deep is a stylized cloud, bunches of white and purple flowers on long green stalks, blue flowers with simply-drawn eyes in the center, and curving trees with intertwining branches, mushroom sprouts, and green, blue, and purple leaves. The painting is on brick on an outdoor wall. Beneath the image is a black and white picture of the artist, Annie Roth, who wears her hair down with a backwards baseball cap and is looking away from the camera with a small smile on her face.

Artist Ellie Wallace is shown painting an illustrative blue and green mural on an outdoor wall. The mural shows a stately white building in the distance with many windows and a sprawling green lawn, with a tree lined path leading to another building. The shapes are simplified, using color to help the viewer understand the trees and buildings, giving the mural a playful and organic look. The sky is a deep blue. In the foreground we see a dark, wavy tree, with spindly curving branches extending up into a collection of greens and blues that read as leaves. Another person is shown on a ladder painting these leaves. Beneath the image is a picture of the artist, Ellie Wallace, whose hair is a vibrant, cool yellow. They wear glasses and have tattoos on their arms and collarbones.

In this image we see the same image from the first post, the geometric building with colorful facade, featured alone. Beneath the image is a picture of the artist, Chase Melendez, wearing a black t-shirt, wearing glasses, and smiling.

In this image we see the same image from the first post, the golden goddess with her helmet and owl friend, featured alone. Beneath the image is a picture of the artist, Jim Tucker, wearing a black hoodie, and focused on creating a sketch.
