Asian small-clawed otters are incredibly social, but at mealtime, sharing is rare. One exception is when pups are still learning to hunt. Here, big brother Splash uses a high-pitched hum to let little brother Mackerel know he has food to share. Mackerel responds with begging calls and happily accepts a superworm.

In the wild, many poison dart frogs encounter mineral-rich soils, mud, and clay deposits as they move through the rainforest floor. Providing access to a clay bath in captivity can help mimic these natural conditions, encouraging exploration, foraging, and other instinctive behaviors.

Beyond enrichment, clay may provide trace minerals and create a more natural microhabitat that supports overall frog welfare.

Watch as these frogs investigate, soak, and interact with their clay bath just as they might with mineral-rich areas in nature.

Happy 18th Birthday to Niffy!

Today we're celebrating one of the Zoo's most fascinating residents as Niffy the aye-aye turns 18 years old.

Native to Madagascar, aye-ayes are one of the world's most unique primates. With their large eyes, ever-growing teeth, and specialized long middle finger used to find insects hidden inside trees, they are perfectly adapted for life in the forest. Unfortunately, habitat loss and other human-related threats continue to impact wildlife across Madagascar.
