It is important to understand that if you accept an event by contract/agreement and have been paid upfront, it is YOUR responsibility to make sure you have everything in place to perform that task of the event to completion. If you have a secular job, make sure you have the date of the event off or covered. If you have children, make sure you have a sitter in place. If you have medical issues, make sure you make arrangements to take care of yourself if any problems may arise. Moral of the story here is: BE RESPONSIBLE. Take the time to do things right. If you don't, you run the risk of losing money or not being invited back to perform the next time or your name can start getting tarnished in an industry where your name means EVERYTHING.
