From our permanent collection: Zanele Muholi

Artist and visual activist Zanele Muholi has spent more than two decades documenting the lives of South Africa’s Black LGBTQIA+ communities through photography, painting, and other materials.

Three works by Muholi are part of the Bader + Simon collection. Together they carry what makes the practice so lasting: presence, visibility, and the refusal to look away.
