The Castle of Air in Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park was gifted to Cincinnati from our German sister city of Munich as a place to reflect on our relationship with nature, our place in the world, and the connection between the two cities.

The surrounding area was just updated with new landscaping, an improved walking path, and a newly installed educational sign.

The new sign was made possible through a generous donation from Munich Sister Cities Association and Neil Bortz of Towne Properties. Additional project partners include the International Friendship Park Advisory Council, the Cincinnati USA Sister Cities Association, and the Cincinnati Parks Foundation .

The flags are back in International Friendship Park! The display includes 18 American flags alongside the flags of all 193 United Nations members.

The restored Flag Promenade is fulfilling its original design purpose after years out of service. The flags create a strong visual and physical connection between Sawyer Point and International Friendship Park, linking visitors through the two spaces along the iconic Cincinnati riverfront.

Equally important, the display celebrates the diversity of nations around the world as part of a shared global community. This experience culminates at the International Friendship Park entrance with the flags of Cincinnati’s sister cities, reinforcing the park’s theme of international connection.

The restoration work was coordinated and funded by Cincinnati Parks and completed by contractor The National Flag Company.

The spring league wrapped up yesterday at the Riverfront Skate Rink and what a season it was 🏒

Our NHL STREET youth hockey players spent the spring learning new skills, scoring goals, building confidence, making friends, and having a blast at the newly painted Skate Rink at Sawyer Point. This program is a partnership Skate Downtown Cincy, led by Coach Jim Colville with support from our amazing volunteers, Riverfront Parks staff, and the Columbus Blue Jackets. NHL STREET is beginner friendly, low pressure, fun, and affordable, making hockey accessible for every kid who wants to play.

The Riverfront Skate Rink mural grand opening was a success! We had a great turn out at the rink. Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the new rink and show off your skating skills! Skate Downtown Cincy you know how to throw a celebration!

Arbor Day at Smale Riverfront Park was a success! We had popcorn, hotdogs, balloon animals, a petting zoo, free trees, and more! Thank you to everyone who came out to grab a free tree!

Cincinnati Parks is hosting a free community Arbor Day event and tree giveaway at Smale Park this Saturday, April 25th from 11 am – 2 pm. The family friendly event includes a balloon artist, nature education, yard games, a petting zoo, music, and 300 free tree saplings. Hope to see you there!
