Cincinnati Parks is grateful for our friends at Cincinnati Recreation Commission, who continue to make recreation in our city something special. We’re, of course, proud to play our part, too. Cincinnati Parks has more than just beautiful parks and public green spaces. Parks won Best Dressed, thanks to the Mr. Tree and Squirrel costumes, at the City Manager’s Office Inflatable Olympics! Friday was a blast competing in the obstacle course, and it was even better getting to do it at our very own Sawyer Point!

Meet the Lizard & the Sock! A giant lizard, an oversized sock, and one of Cincinnati's most unique true stories inspire an iconic new playground on the heart of Cincinnati’s riverfront.

Cincinnati Parks and the Cincinnati Parks Foundation are excited to unveil the latest design for the new playground at Sawyer Point, replacing the beloved "1000 Hands Playground" destroyed by fire in 2024. Powered by one of the city's most fascinating urban legends, the new playground will celebrate the remarkable story of how Cincinnati's Lazarus Lizards came to be, while creating a whimsical destination filled with opportunities for discovery and adventure for children of all ages and abilities.

When you see spiders in our parks remember that they need homes too!

Spiders, in general, play crucial roles in the natural environment as both predators and prey. Spiders eat insects such as wasps, flies, and even grasshoppers, making them highly welcome helpers in natural pest control. While spiders are important predators, they are not what we call apex predators, meaning there are other animals that eat spiders. Spiders are important food sources for lizards, birds, and even other spiders.

While most spiders are venomous in order to capture and dissolve their prey, only a tiny percentage of spiders can harm humans with a bite. Those spiders with highly toxic venom, such as the world-famous black widow and brown recluse, do not make large webs up in the air for us to stumble upon. Instead, they prefer a much more subtle approach and, for the most part, steer clear of people.

The recent storms have impacted everyone, including Cincinnati Parks, our 85,000 street trees, plus all of the trees in our amazing parks. In fact, we have already received over 300 service requests for fallen trees or branches. Our crews have worked all through the night prioritizing the most urgent situations, like trees on power lines and blocking roads, to help everyone stay safe.

A huge thank you to all of our staff who continue to work long hours on clean-up efforts. We truly appreciate your dedication and hard work.
