A full-time doll artist, sculptor, painter & miniaturist, wife & mother of two, Liz has been making dolls & dollhouses professionally for over 18 years. I have always made dolls, I have always made houses, out of whatever I had on hand, even as a kid. I remember making miniature homes on beaches out of sand, shell and pebbles. In the woods behind my grandparent's house, I would m
ake tiny cottages of twigs and leaves. I was always certain that when I left, tiny faeries would come out to peer curiously inside them. I am a dollhouse builder/miniaturist with a special interest in Victorian homes, as my father is a carpenter who has helped restore many historic homes in our hometown. I create fantasy homes for faeries to live in as well, and after a home is finished, it is hard to let them go, but I know that they will be enjoyed and cherished by my collectors. It is sad to see them fly away to their new homes! I could never keep them all, I spend hours each day creating them, they would soon fill my entire home! I make my living with my doll making, so it's a necessity to offer them for sale. I always feel blessed to have so many fans and collectors, without them, I couldn't continue as I do on what I call my artful journey. Searching for new and interesting fabrics, bits and baubles to add to my costuming. Studying and practicing new techniques for poses, expressions, and themes. I have been creating professionally for 11 years now, and thankfully, it never gets old. I do wear myself out sometimes, but the passion and desire to create is always there. So even if my back and shoulders hurt, or my eyes are burning and tired, I get up early because at sometime during the night, an idea has come to me, which I have to try out! It is always my hope that my dolls and homes spread joy and make people smile when they see them. But most of all, I hope they remind people to dream again. Life can be hard sometimes, but it is also wonderful and mysterious, and we shouldn't forget that simply because we have grown up and have responsibilities. Take time to read, draw, paint, write, sculpt, sing, dance, laugh, travel, create, share, love, help someone in any way you can, look up at the clouds, gaze at the stars, dream! Any one of these should be on your daily to-do list. Bright Faerie Blessings! Liz
