🎹Best Classical Compendium
🎻Best Orchestral Performance
🎺Best Instrumental Composition for Carlos Simon's "Hellfighters' Blues"
🎷Best Jazz Performance

An homage to one of America’s most important artistic movements and the breadth of jazz styles it has nurtured, "Harlem Renaissance" features works by Duke Ellington, Kurt Weill & Langston Hughes, James P. Johnson, Moisés Simons, W.C. Handy, Carlos Simon and Cab Calloway.

“'Harlem Renaissance' honors extraordinary Black composers and their kindred spirits — painters, poets, authors, sculptors and dancers — who together defined the ethos of 20th century American culture. We present these works not as museum-pieces but part of a continuum of style that continues to evolve a century later.”

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Pops Orchestra are pleased to announce our sensory-friendly concerts for the 2026-27 season!

On OCT 10, the Pops brings the beloved story "Ferdinand the Bull" to life through our Lollipops Family Series with sensory-friendly elements including a designated quiet area, no restrictions on noise or movement and a social narrative available online to help attendees prepare for the concert. Partnering with community organizations including Cincinnati Children's, the Ken Anderson Alliance and Visionaries and Voices, this concert is the perfect introduction to the Orchestra for young listeners.

On APR 24, 2027 Access to Music celebrates the connection between music and the mind. In partnership with The Well, a Cincinnati-based national non-profit, the annual sensory-friendly concert explores how music shapes thoughts, emotions and interactions while creating a safe and welcoming environment. Pre-concert activities will feature community organization resources and a Mindful Music Moment led by The Well. The concert provides an opportunity for people of all ages to experience orchestral music in their own unique way.
