Jean-Robert de Cavel, Jean-Robert's Table, Jean-Robert de Cavel is a familiar name in Cincinnati. He's won countless awards for his cooking and was named "Person of the Year" by both CityBeat Magazine and the Cincinnati Chapter of the French American Chamber of Commerce. You may recognize him from his march in the 2013 Reds Opening Day Parade. If not, his dishes are certainly unmistakeable. Jean-Robert is known for his modern twist on classic french cooking that earned his resaturant the #1 spot on Cincinnati Magazine's list of Best Restaurants in the city. We can't wait to see what kind of culinary concoction de Cavel will come up with when paired with Findlay's own Mike Luken of Luken's Poultry, Fish & Seafood at ELFTG.

Read what he had to say about Findlay Market
When did you first discover Findlay Market? "I moved to Cincinnati on the Friday after Thanksgiving in 1993. The following Saturday I went with Jim Tarbell who introduced me to some of the vendors and I had a fun time."
What do you most appreciate about the place? "I appreciate the diversity of the people as well as the vendors. They are dedicated to make everyone's experience pleasant. You really get the feeling that it is an old market."
Who are some of your favorite vendors? "That is a very hard question since I do have a lot of them, from Lukens, Madison's, Mediterranean Store, Colonel De’s Gourmet Herbs and Spice and everyone else from the flower store to the meat shop. They all compliment each other.
As a French man, I love the feel and passion the vendors have. Findlay Market is a treasure to Cincinnati urban living. If you want feel French before or after your shopping, be sure to have a glass of wine at Market Wines!"

Read what Julie Francis from has to say about her special relationship with Findlay Market. (She was also part of our first-ever fundraising event in 2009, Lunch on the Land!)

"I first came to Findlay Market in 2001, after moving back in town, and opening Aioli, my first restaurant.

I really appreciate shopping and supporting smaller, locally owned businesses that take pride in their products. I enjoy talking and learning from the vendors about their businesses, and their sourcing.

I love them all, but I especially love the variety of exotic and imported goods at Dean's Mediterranean Imports and Colonel De Gourmet Herbs and Spices, the unusual Asian goods at Saigon Market, Fresh local produce at Madison's at Findlay Market, and quality meats at Eckerlin's Specialty Meats at Findlay Market, Kroeger and Sons, and Busch's Country Corner. And of course the farmers in the farmer's market shed.,

I am excited to see how Findlay Market has grown and developed over the years. It is a historic market that has successfully transitioned into a contemporary and vital part of the local food scene. I'm also really excited to see the The Kitchen at Findlay Market come to fruition."

We're fortunate to have some of the city's top chefs join us at Eat Local for the Globe each year. We always love including new chefs too - especially when they got their start at Findlay Market!

We're thrilled to have Ethan Snider from Fond: Lunch and Deli joining the event this year. He's what he had to say about Findlay Market:

"I've have been coming to Findlay Market as a very young child. As a Westside kid being raised by a single mom, Findlay Market was where she found good, honest food. As an adult I found Findlay to be a thriving place to gather, shop and people watch. When I started Summuh: Artisan Hummus, Local/ Organic/ Fresh, I knew I had to sell my product there! In July 2012, I got a spot in the weekend farmers market, becoming an entrepreneur.

I like the people. It seems there is such a rich diversity of cultures that is never boring.

My favorite vendors include Kroeger and Sons Meats Bouchard's Pasta, Eckerlin's Specialty Meats at Findlay Market, and all the weekend vendors like myself!"
