With this, race reports are caught up...

Micro Night Monday - 8.17.26

A good night of Micro's. 14 drivers, 20 entries. 2 heats of Micro-B and 2 heats of Microbe SC. A couple drivers we have not seen in a while returned, while a couple of regulars took the night off.

The racing was very good, traction seemed to be a bit more than last Micro race and traction rolling was more of an issue. Laptimes for the Micro-B's are within a second of the top Mini-B Pro Stocks so anybody that thinks the Micro's are too slow might want to reconsider. Micro-B is the least expensive form of racing we have, The cars are $119.99, a transponder is $39.99. Contrary to almost every internet genius out there, the cars don't need anything else to be competitive. Any additional money is best spent on practice days to learn the car.

We do have one comment on the night. We used to be able to run 4 heats, with a small break and start each round on or before the half hour. Our biggest night was 5 heats per round, 3 rounds and a main, (twenty, 5 minute races), approx 120 minutes of on track racing completed and we were still finished before 9:30.

Racing Monday with only 4 heats, was not done till after 10pm. Our goal is to run the mains by 9pm so that our racers that have to get up early for work/school the next morning are not out too late. We need to get back to that schedule. When your race is over, please return to the track to marshal as soon as possible. On small race nights like the Monday night races, we need everyone's cooperation marshalling, which means you may need to marshal back to back, volunteering for someone else. The quicker everyone gets out to marshal, the quicker we can start the races. The faster the races run, the more time we can give to the breaks between rounds. If we waste 5 minutes per race getting marshals and drivers to the track, there is no time left for a break. We realize that with the SC class many are racing two classes. If you prep both cars in the break ahead of each round, all it takes after marshalling is heading back, grabbing the other car and heading back to the track. You can swap batteries and prep in the break.

Another thing that can make the night smoother, please make sure, your cars are race ready when you show up to race. We understand needing time for repairs due to crash damage through the night but try your best to have everything in good shape before race night. If it is race ready going in, it will be less likely to cause problems through the night.

2026 Summer Buggy Series Race #2 - 8.14.26

Another strong night for the series. Mid summer turnouts above 40 are good. Tonight was 31 drivers, 52 entries. Mini-B Pro Stock went to the C Main again. Mini 4wd Open and Mini-B Brushless had a B main. Junior Buggy was full once again.

The series brought a few of the best out of retirement and close racing was had across the board. It was a challenge to make the A Main. We love to see good close competition as it is much more fun to call a race where anyone in the main has a chance to win.

Once again the racers were on the ball and, we finished up the last main at 11:10. This time Ellery Savage volunteered to grab podium pictures as the drivers came off the stand. Nobody snuck away this tonight.

We had another “incident” tonight. It wasn't a battery this time and it was on track. In four years of racing, this is the first time we have taken a smoking car off the track. Quick thinking by one of our Junior racers, after his initial surprise, got the car off track and another racer ran it outside to disarm it. From what we can tell, a battery wire broke off from the ESC and shorted against it, causing the ESC to go up in smoke and cause a lot of stress to the battery, but the battery survived. The body had some charring on the inside but survived otherwise. A new Spektrum 2in1 went in the car for the second heat and the car was fine. We now hope that we have had our fill of fireworks for the next couple years. Please check those wires for frayed or questionable connections.

Points without drops will be posted at the end of the race results.

Monday Night Oval 8.10.26 (First oval race on new carpet)

This is our first chance to run Oval since the Polished Concrete race mid July. Nobody was quite sure what to expect. The NASCAR's did not change drastically, maybe a little more aggressive turn in. 1RC did not change much at all but the Hackfab cars got much faster.

14 drivers entered 19 cars to give us 2 heats of NACAR, and a heat each of 1RC and Hackfab Late Model. NASCAR got down to a 4.3 second fast lap, Hackfab bettered that by full second with a 3.3 fast lap. The 80 lap NASCAR main came down to less than second between 1st and 2nd.

2026 Summer Buggy Series 8.7.26

36 drivers entered 58 cars to make a full night of racing for the first week of the series. This series is similar to the Mini Truck series we ran the month before the track rebuild. 4 races, 1 drop, quick and done in one month. It helps concentrate drivers in just a couple classes so that we get larger turnouts on just a couple classes instead of 3-5 entries per class spread across 8 different class. It certainly worked in this case. Mini-B Pro Stock and Mini 4wd both had C Mains and Mini-B Brushless went from zero entries to 10 creating and A and B main. Junior Buggy (shown on the cover photo) was a full heat also.

The night was full of packed heats and close racing. The series brought a few racers back that we have not seen in a while which made for some very close racing across the board. It was a challenge to make the A Main in any of the classes and the racers that did, should be proud.

Even with the good turnout, we finished up the last main at 11:15. Unfortunately we did not get podium pictures for most classes, but the Juniors were ready so we did get the kids photo.

We are using the same points schedule as the Mini Truck series and will post the points in the race 2 race report.

**** If you did not read the Monday Night Micro race report, please do. We had an incident at the track that was addressed in that report: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1FJdDwEFCQ/

Continuing catch up......

Monday Night Micro 8.3.26 (First micro race on new carpet)

IMPORTANT NOTE!.........please read.

Before we get into the race info an incident happened Monday night. Fortunately it happened with Micro's and not something bigger. A racer forgot to change the profile on his charger from NIMH to LIPO to charge his Micro-B Battery. This would not have been a big deal if the battery was connected correctly, but he failed to plug in the balance lead for the battery. If the balance lead was plugged in, the charger would have caught the mismatch and errored out. Because it was not hooked up correctly, the charger continued to charge until a thermal runaway happened, in other words, fire. Fortunately the battery was not in the car. One of our other racers rushed into action and put the fire out. If this had been a much larger battery things could have been much worse than the small scorch on the pit space.

ALWAYS balance charge LIPO batteries. Always plug in the balance lead. If using Spektrum, G2 batteries, always use a Spektrum G2 capable charger. Charging a G2 pack on a non Spektrum charger is the same as not balance charging. This will prevent inadvertent charging in the wrong profile and will stop catastrophic failure if you drop a cell during a charge, both conditions that will start a fire.

This is the first chance to get the Micro's out on the new surface. Micro-B didn't change a lot, just a little edgy with too much tire. The Microbe SC however have come to life on the new carpet. Yes, they still traction roll but with more traction, they are a lot more predictable. The racers that have worked on setup and lowered the trucks adapted well.

The race night started with 22 entries among 15 unique drivers. The new carpet caused the Micro-T drivers to shy away so buggy and SCT were the classes of the night with 2 full heats of each class. With the old carpet, the SC's were a lap or two off pace from the buggies, this is no longer true.

The races ran a little longer than normal so we didn't get racers to hang around for podiums. More importantly, we didn't get racers to hang around to turnmarshal. It is important that you stay around to help out those that have helped you through the night. There were also a few tables that were not put away. We must all work together to make the race night go smooth.

Catching up with race reports today. More to come after this..

Friday Night Mini's 7.31.26 (First race back on new carpet)
Opening night for the new carpet. Before we start the race report we need to thank Ellery Savage and Jim Bornhorst for their dedication and help with the push this past week to get things painted and put back together. We could not be racing this weekend without their help, especially Ellery for his transportation services and ability to sling paint.

The turnout was very good considering the amount of conflicting events over the weekend. We ended up with 40 entries among 26 unique drivers. It turned out to be a preview for the upcoming buggy series as all the buggy classes were run. We had 6 heats per round which allowed us to run 3 rounds of qualifying. The mains were finished up before 11pm and everyone was excited for the new track surface. We know alot more about the cars than we did 4 years ago and the transition to the fresh high bite carpet wasn't as bad a we thought it would be, but there are still setup changes to be made. We ran Mini-B Brushless for the first time in a few months and proved that we are still faster with the Brushed cars.
