“Ida, Sweet as Apple Cider" performed by vocalist Mickey James & The Tom Daugherty Orchestra, re-creating Glenn Miller’s WWII Army Air Force band. Recorded at the National Museum of the US Air Force.

This hit is a popular American ragtime song from 1903, composed by Eddie Munson with lyrics by Eddie Leonard. Famously used as the theme song for entertainer Eddie Cantor, the song sold over 500,000 copies and became a classic of the era.

This version was recorded by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra on January 17, 1941. The track famously features vocals by Tex Beneke and reached #13 on the Billboard charts shortly after its release. The song became a staple of Miller's swing repertoire and was often paired with "Jingle Bells" on RCA Victor 78 RPM records.

Mickey had a fantastic time last night working as Master of Ceremonies / Ring Announcer for the annual private black tie Boxing event (Beef & Boxing), sanctioned by the National Collegiate Boxing Association & USA Boxing.
As always, he has so much respect for boxing, MMA, and combat sports, and I am blessed to be able to still be a part of the sports that I can no longer (physically) participate in.
These athletes gave their all last night and it was some amazing bouts. Big shout out to the USA Boxing officials who did a wonderful job laying down the rules and keeping order and organization. And big thanks to Daniel Connors and The Athletic Club of Columbus for hosting such a great annual event. See you next year!
