For your information, Auburn Alliance Church is once again hosting Night to Shine prom on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 6 pm until 9 pm. Visit their website auburnalliance.com for more information. Delta Lake Bible Center and Rome Alliance Church will also be hosting a Night to Shine event the same night as Auburn's at Mohawk Valley Community College. All our guests will be crowned king or queen of the prom.  We will have a station at both Resurrection Life Church and MVCC.

In response to an individual asking on another Facebook live event earlier today asking about the dance: Hollow Reed is not affiliated with any nonprofit agency. Hollow Reed is its own corporation. And to answer about when the dance will resume, the honest answer is that we don't know yet. The biggest concern is the safety of those who attend. Currently with the uptick in cases because of the Delta variant, it would not be safe to reopen. As said before, we continue to monitor the current situation in the area, and will determine at that time whether it would be safe to resume. Stay safe, everyone.

It's been a very long time since something was posted publicly on this page. As everyone is likely aware, the world has been fighting a pandemic that has made many people sick and, in some cases, more than sick. The pandemic is not yet over, but circumstances are getting somewhat better with people following safety protocol and vaccines widely available. With that being said, New York State is attempting to open things up more and more. At some point the dance may be able to reopen. That is still a long way off, if it's even possible. New policies and procedures will need to be developed that must be in line with state guidance. There will be new rules to follow. There will be a new way of doing things. The Hollow Reed team is starting to look at how opening could happen safely, with a huge emphasis on safety. The last thing we want to happen is for people to get sick. Safety is the number one issue in figuring out how to reopen the dance. We have appreciated hearing from you through this difficult time. Please remain patient as we navigate this. Whatever decision will be made will be shared on here. Thank you for understanding.

We have noticed an increase in views of this page, and need to address the current status of the dance. Though the state may be in phase 4, entertainment is not part of this phase, so we are not opening at this current time. There are many reasons, such as maintaining and policing social distancing protocol, wearing of face masks at all times, and general cleanliness of the area we occupy. This would require an incredible amount of staff to be able to make this event safe. The biggest issue, however, is the vulnerability of those who attend the dance should they contract COVID-19. The thought of ANYONE contracting this disease because they attended the dance is something none of us want to have to face. So we have chosen to remain closed for the foreseeable future for everyone's safety. If you need more clarification about this, don't hesitate to ask your family, support staff, or even us via messaging. We truly believe this is the best and safest decision for now. Any changes in our status will be found on this page.

Gatherings of over 10 people are not part of either phase 1 or phase 2 reopening of the state. We still have a long way to go. Continue to stay tuned.
