How “A Locked Door Escape Room” came to be.

My name is Max Dean and I am the owner of A Locked Door here in Christiansburg. In 2009, at the ripe old age of 18, I was fortunate to land a job with a local Tv network in North Carolina as the Station Manager. I was responsible for show content, production, a live morning show, filming & video editing. It was a great opportunity, I learned a lot, and enjoyed my time there. As time went on however, I knew I wanted to pursue other interests and relocate. After many trips to the NRV, I decided I wanted to call this area home. As for work, well you are always told to pursue your passions, do what you love etc. so that was what my relocating was going to be all about. So with that said my personal interests are traveling, (my favorite was Japan a couple years ago, really enjoyed that and hope to get back again to explore more), Rock Climbing, (I visit rock gyms, but mostly rather to be outdoors and on an actual mountain whenever I can). As like most in my generation, video games has always been a fun pass time as well! I guess I have always just had a hankering for challenges and adventures with a competitive side. So ultimately when I heard about the escape room game concept, naturally I wanted to check them out. I started hunting them down, playing, and really found them to be quite enjoyable and a nice change of pace from the typical entertainment activities being offered. So fast forward to the present, A Locked Door Escape Room is my latest adventure in my note to self: “Follow your passions, do what you love!”. I hope you’ll come see us & try our first game out.
