Before I tell you about Greenwood Studios and my dream, I would like to thank a couple people and organizations without which none of this would be possible. Keith Lahti has been instrumental in getting me where I am and helping me through this. Gary Shafer, even though we don't see eye to eye on political issues personally, has gifted me with knowledge and some equipment and I thank him for that.
The people at the Potter's Gatherings, you know who you are, and without you I would have just been a back porch potter, or worse I would have lost interest in this. And finally and this is a big one...I would like to thank the people at the West Virginia Division of Culture and History's Commission on the Arts for accepting my grant proposal back in 2011 and helping me fund my studio project. Without the assistance that comes through them from the National Endowment for the Arts, I would still be many moons away from being able to build and work in my studio. Thank you all for being freaking AWESOME! Hello I am William Dobbins. Greenwood Studios is the dream of mine. I hope to transition my life from a technology/electronic centered career to one of more mud. I hope that by doing this that I can leave something of a mark, something a little more permanent on the world. Working in the technical field offers almost no opportunity to do this, so pushing mud and making something beautiful really appeals to me. I also fully intend on offering classes that are affordable and fun for the whole family. Currently my facilities are not completed, but within the next year I should be fully up and running and can take bookings for a few people at a time. Stay tuned for more details.
