📢 HURRICANE ISAIAS CLEANUP: DEBRIS PLACEMENT REMINDERS

As cleanup continues across Washington County, please remember to separate storm debris properly and place it at the curbside without blocking roadways, storm drains, or access for emergency vehicles.

🌳 Vegetative debris: Tree limbs, branches, logs, and plants.

🏠 Construction and demolition debris: Building materials, drywall, furniture, lumber, and mattresses.

🔌 Appliances and electronics: Refrigerators, washers, dryers, televisions, computers, and other household equipment.

⚠️ Important reminders:

Do not place debris in roadways or storm drains.

Keep debris away from fire hydrants, utility poles, and other structures.

Do not mix household garbage with storm debris.

Follow local guidance for hazardous household waste, such as batteries, chemicals, paint, and pesticides.

If you do not have a sidewalk, ditch, or utility line in front of your home, place debris at the edge of your property before the curb.

Please remember that proper debris separation helps cleanup crews work safely and efficiently.

📢 UPDATE: MRE & WATER DISTRIBUTION POD IS OPEN!

Washington County’s Point of Distribution (POD) is now OPEN at the Vernon Fire Department, 3550 Roche Ave, Vernon, FL for Meals Ready-to-Eat (MREs) and water.

🚗 Please remain in your vehicles and follow the directions of personnel on site.

🙏 We ask everyone to:

Follow all instructions from staff.

Be patient and courteous to others.

Be mindful of fellow residents who also need assistance.

Drive carefully and watch for others.

Our goal is to serve our community as safely and efficiently as possible.

📢 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT – HURRICANE ISAIAS DEBRIS PICKUP📢

Washington County residents may place vegetative yard debris from Hurricane Isaias only at the right-of-way for pickup. 🌳

⚠️ IMPORTANT: ONLY storm-related vegetative debris will be collected. Household trash, furniture, appliances, construction materials, and all other items will NOT be picked up.

Please keep debris out of roadways and avoid blocking access for emergency vehicles.

Lost power? Generators can be lifesavers, but improper use can be deadly!

🚨 Remember:
✅ Operate generators outdoors, at least 20 feet from your home.
✅ Keep them away from doors, windows, and vents.
✅ Never connect a generator directly to your home's electrical system without a proper transfer switch installed by a qualified electrician.
✅ Keep generators dry and turn them off and let them cool before refueling.
